She blinked back her tears, wiping her eyes with her fingers, so that no one entering the room could see her cry. But that’s how the person found her when the door opened.

It’s him!

Heart’s lips quivered, and her chest was overwhelmed with a strange nervousness, a feeling she only experienced when they looked at each other. Perhaps that was the real heart attack.

“Are you crying?” He asked, slightly pausing while closing the door.

She shook her head but quickly sniffled. She felt foolish.

“Damn. What’s wrong?” He asked with concern, moving closer to her.

Lux immediately reached out for her and examined her face.

“Do you have any pain?” He asked as he looked her over.

She shook her head and remained silent. What could she say? She didn’t want to admit the truth. But it hurt when he didn’t respond. Was that right? No, it was wrong. She shouldn’t be feeling anything; that was their deal. She was crossing a line by admitting this for the second time.

Worse things could happen.
