Forty one

It had become a routine for Weruche to wait till her father left, and then sneak off to the arena. She should have gone back to California by now, she knew. But somehow, she could not shake off the feeling that going would mean that she was running, and as wonderful as it sounded for her to run away from all her pain at the moment, she knew that if she did run, she may never be able to upturn the bounty her brother had set on her head.

So far, he had not hit her again, and she was beginning to suspect he knew that she was sneaking off anytime he was not around, but if he knew something, he was saying nothing. Trying to be hopeful, she hurried off to the arena.

The man in the ring who seemed to be dominating the fight was leaner than Peter, Weruche noticed as she got closer, his hair was black, shorter and he seemed to be putting in a lot of effort, more effort than Karis usually put into a fight but it seemed to be paying off. It seemed the other three people in the ring were battling
