Lily's POV

I frowned.

For the past three days, guards had been stationed by my door, watching my every move. Where had all of them gone? My mind echoed with thoughts about the strange absence of the guards outside my room.

I paused, straightening and chewing the corner of my lips in thought. It was as if the entire estate had fallen into a silent slumber, leaving me questioning their whereabouts.

Curiosity made me move away from the door again, and I walked towards the window. I peered outside again, my breath fogging the glass as I peered into the night. Guards were stationed outside as usual, but they seemed even more scanty than usual. And was it my imagination, or were there more cars than usual parked outside?

I furrowed my brows and chewed my lips in consideration. This was as good a chance as any to finally escape.

Turning away from the window, I walked to the closet and fished out a black hoodie, one of the ones I had gotten from the boutique downtown. Slipping it on, I turn
