Chapter 3 - Kiss the bride

-INDIGO-

"Good." Mr. Grey says after I tell him my decision. He turns back to his office tab, and I wonder what I'm supposed to do now.

"I'll have my lawyers send in the papers to your mail. We'll have the wedding the day after tomorrow." He says in a disinterested tone and my jaw drops.

"So soon?" I ask.

Isn't that too early? It might raise up suspicions.

He slowly looks up from his tab and shrugs, like I'm supposed to understand and not him.

"Why not? The sooner, the better. You'll sign the papers today, we'll review it tomorrow and get married behind my house the next day. You'll move in with me after. Simple." He says casually.

The way he says 'simple' like everything about this situation is simple, when it is anything but.

"I'll move in with you?" I repeat in disbelief.

I can't. This is all moving so fast. We need to slow down.

"Of course, you will. We can't be married and live under two different roofs, it'll seem too suspicious. If it makes you feel any better, we'll be sleeping in two different rooms. I don't even know why I'm telling you all this. It's all in the prenup, you'll get to see it." He says, turning his focus to his computer.

"Wow," I say to myself.

"That'll be all, you're dismissed." He says and I feel like strangling him. But instead, I let out an 'okay' and leave his office.

What have I done?

The first thing I do is drop on my office chair and take huge gulps from my cup of coffee. I exhale sharply and Matilda from the next desk—she's mine and Mr. Grey's office girl that does almost absolutely nothing and leaves everything for me—raises a questioning brow at me.

"I'm getting married to Mr. Grey." I say in horror, and her brow raises higher.

"What?" She spits out.

"It's for business. The wedding is happening the day after tomorrow." I continue and she stays still for over a minute, I start to wonder if I broke her.

She unexpectedly bursts into a fit of laughter.

"Indigo, be frank with me. What'd you take? Cause it's working wonders for you!" Matilda says in between laughs and I frown.

"I'm serious, it's for a deal." I tell her dryly and her laughter immediately stops.

"You're not kidding." She says in horror.

"Nope." I say, slamming a bunch of files in front of me.

"Fuck!" She exclaims.

Later that day, the mail comes through and I decide to check the so called 'prenup' Mr. Grey was going on about. The first thing that my eyes catch—Both parties aren't necessarily expected to be intimate with each other, but if they want to, it is not prohibited.

What the hell?

Why would I even want to get intimate with Mr. Grey? How would he even be in bed?

Stop it, Indigo! Stop thinking about your boss naked, and groveling for your attention.

I glance at other lines and I see- After the divorce, the second party shall lay no claims to the first's properties. She shall only receive what was bargained with her from the start.

Yeah, right. Like I would even want his filthy properties.

I don't even see the need for this contract. I skim over through the rest things before signing it. That's the end of that chapter for me.

The next day of work passes in a blur. I send the papers back to Mr. Grey, he glances through it and gives me a nod. The workday continues as usual. It's only in the night that something unusual happens.

There's a package waiting for me at my doorstep the time I get home. I carefully unwrap it to see a beautiful white wedding dress.

Mr. Grey did this.

It's the most beautiful piece of clothe I've ever seen in my entire life. I try it on and it fits perfectly. How did Mr. Grey get my measurements so perfectly?

I don't ponder on that question too much.

All I do is sleep on it, only to wake up as a bride the next day.

Mr. Grey sent a car for me early this morning. I got to his enormous mansion and I saw that there were a few artists for me. I didn't really see any reason for my makeup to be extravagant but the artists begged to differ.

Three hours later, I look like an entirely different person. Too beautiful to be Indigo Martins. I feel a tinge of happiness at myself but it only takes a second to be brought back to the harsh reality.

This is not a wedding. It is a business deal. I shouldn't feel pretty.

Jax, Mr. Grey's best friend leads me to the garden behind Mr. Grey's house. Jax and I are friendly with each other, but we aren't necessarily friends. He's friends with my boss. I can't be friends with him.

The garden is wedding themed. There's an aisle, an altar, no seats though. But there is a large sized Rowan Grey at the end of the aisle with a scowl on his face.

Matilda— my bridesmaid that Mr. Grey wasn't keen on inviting—stands at his other side. I take the place in front of her, directly facing Mr. Grey and Jax takes the spot behind Mr. Grey.

The priest starts with the wedding procession and I tune out everything until I'm asked the question.

"Do you, Indigo Martins, take Mr. Rowan Grey to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

I don't.

"I do." I say instead, the priest turns to Mr. Grey and asks him the same question.

"Yeah, yeah, I do." Mr. Grey says with great disinterest and I resist the urge to punch his face. He should at least try not to look like he's being chained down to a whale.

"You may now kiss the bride." The priest instructs Rowan and he nods.

Kiss?

I don't get to counter the priest's words, as Rowan places his lips on mine.

Fuck.
