Vanessa's Pov

“I am only here because you're forcing me to be, don't ask for more than I am capable or even willing to give.” Rodri? The voice sounded like it had come from a distance but I was certain it was Rodri's.

Was he here? My eyes slowly fluttered open as I took in the view of where I was. Bright lights, white walls, machines… I am in the hospital!

I blinked rapidly to clear my vision and allowed my eyes to scan my surroundings. Estelle's worried face came into view and so did my mother but Rodri was nowhere to be found. Had I dreamt of him being around? Was I still sleeping? I closed my eyes again for a few seconds then pried them open once more.

Mum quickly rushed to my side and so did Estelle. “How are you feeling, baby?” She asked with tears brimming over in her eyes. I leaned into the palm she placed on my cheek and let out a sigh that seemed to resonate from the depths of my soul. “Are you feeling any pains?” I nodded stiffly.
