Chapter 21

Rachel

"What?!" My mother said sharply as she rose to her feet again. Her hands was cleamched into fists. She looked ready to engage in a fistfight anytime.

She did not look like she wanted to take her advice of using words instead of violence.

"Sit down, mom." I said and I patted the space beside me.

"Why were you drugged? Why did you not come home?" My mother kept firing questions as she took her seat.

I smiled.

I loved the care that her words and actions showed.

She glared at me, "Why are you smiling? Is my words funny?"

I shook my head quickly. I would face her wrath otherwise.

The wrath of a mama bear is no joke.

"Nothing is funny. I was just thinking of something else." I said in a bid to appease her.

"Enough of that. Continue your story." She said as she faced me totally with her eyebrows furrowed in concern.

"My coworkers invited me out to a workers' hangout. I did not know it was a trap. They spiked the drink they gave me." I explained.
