The Debt

LISA'S POV

I splashed the cold water on my face and turned off the tap. I stared at myself in the mirror. It was a good thing I spent good money on quality makeup.

I threw on a shirt and a pair of jeans, finally calling it a night. This was too much drama for one day.

I opened the bathroom door-

"Tried to kill you, huh?" Chantel arched her brow in disbelief. "Yeah right."

"Shut up," I wasn't about to defend something that definitely happened. "What did the boss do?"

"What else? He asked his assistant or whatever to send him home. But damn! That man was fine and sexy as hell-"

"Crazy too, not gonna lie," I made my way to the backdoor.

"He looked rich and that kiss-"

"Let's not even talk about it," I rolled my eyes. His breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were hazy. Who kisses a host that passionately? Maybe he mistook me for someone else. Had to be the alcohol.

"Hey," Chantel grabbed my arm and I turned to hold her gaze, "Kevin is out back," her eyes turned worried. "Be careful. He looked... Pissed."

I offered her a smile even as my heart hammered in my chest. I nodded and she reluctantly let go of me.

I continued my way to the backdoor, knowing fully well what I was going to face. I drew in deep breaths and opened the door with a calm face-

"Oh!" I feigned shock. "Kevin honey, is that you?"

The face of my last job instantly brightened up. I saw hope flash in his eyes and I almost shook my head at the idiot who was yet to learn his lesson.

Unlike the first time he came wearing a suit, he was wearing casual clothes now. He looked a little out of shape with bags under his eyes, his cheeks were slimmer and his stubble had grown and were looking rough.

"Lisa," he whispered my name in a soft voice and stretched his hand to me. I wasn't in the mood to get touched but I could easily avoid the suspicion if I allowed it.

"They took everything," he said as his hands held mine. He pulled me into a hug and I rolled my eyes as his hug became tighter.

"What do you mean, honey. I don't know whom you speak of," I whined with a small pout.

He let go of me and looked me in my eye, "Remember? The bank and the loan I took on your behalf?"

I pulled my hands out of his slowly and covered my mouth in shock, "No way! That old thing?" So he was here to remind me of old money? I couldn't even remember what I spent it on-

Ah yes, make-up and shoes. It was money well spent.

He nodded and grabbed onto my hand again. He was hellbent on being touchy. I forced my legs to move and I started to lead him out of the alley. Should he get mad, I could make a run for it.

"I know how much school means to you and you're only doing this terrible job because you wanna graduate soon," he said.

"Yes, yes, you're right. I hate it," I loved my job and I had dropped out of college years before I met this dummy.

"That's why it was so hard for you to see me, right? Not like you were ignoring me or anything right-"

"What! Never! I've been so busy with school that I haven't had time to see anyone," I placed my hands on the sides of my head before running my fingers through my hair.

"It's okay honey," he stepped closer to me and he pulled me into a hug. He took a big whiff of my neck with his hands running up and down my back and going down to my butt.

"I missed you so much," he cooed. "So much so that I went to your school and you weren't there."

My heart skipped a beat. "M-Maybe you went there on a day I wasn't around-"

"I found my old classmate as a professor in the department you said you were, I gave her your name and nothing came up," his voice was bolder and darker now, his hug was getting tighter.

"K-Keviv, you're hurting me now-"

"Shut up, you little bitch!" He cursed at me through clenched teeth. I knew I was in one hell of trouble.

He used to work at the Central Bank. All it took was to insert a flash drive to his computer one night after I had convinced him to take me home, I scanned all his passwords and we cleared his account in under a day.

He returned to me crying that his money was gone and I was able to get the man to take a loan from the bank.

It wasn't my fault that he was stupid-

"You're coming with me-"

"No, let me go!" I pushed him hard and was able to get out of his grip. Without thinking twice, I bolted.

Good thing I was wearing flats. I ran the other way, leading to the entrance of the bar but I couldn't run inside, Madam Alex didn't know about the flash drive part. It was the conspiracy of another guy I worked for.

"You little bitch! Come back here!" He yelled and chased after me like a madman.

Panting hard and gasping for breath, I couldn't afford to get caught. I noticed a familiar face next to a black SUV. He lifted his gaze to my direction-

"Open the fucking door, Parker!"

He looked sceptical but he hurried and pulled the door open. I increased my pace-

"Lisa!"

I gasped when I heard the animalistic bark. I climbed into the car and Parker slammed the door shut.

"Let her out!"Kevin yelled. "That little bitch stole all my money and she owes me money too!"

I needed to get out of here. I wasn't safe here too-

The window beside me suddenly rolled down and I moved away from it. I fell backwards with my head landing on a rock hard chest.

"Take care of it," I froze at the voice that was closest to me and felt the deep vibration on his chest.

"Yes, sir," Parker replied. "How much does she owe you?"

"A hundred thousand Dollars!"

I recovered from my shock immediately and moved closer to the window, glaring at the lying bastard. "That's a goddamn lie! My cut was only twenty thousand! So pay him that-"

His eyes widened, "I knew you were working for someone else!"

"Hundred?" I scoffed. "You think you're some-"

"Pay him the hundred, Parker,"

I turned to stare at him in shock. He was resting his head on the other window. He sounded exhausted as if he wanted to get the night over and done with.

"Thank you so much," Kevin yelled. "You don't know what you've done for me. This bitch took everything from me-"

"Never appear before her again," he dismissed without sparing him a glance.

"You bet on it, sir. She's all yours. Don't let her near your personal stuff. She'll steal and rob you of everything you own,"

Kevin was still dishing out my handbook when Parker got into the car.

"If you don't drive off now," my client said in a lazy voice. "I'll kill him."

"I understand, sir," Parker started the car immediately and we zoomed off.

Understand what? Those words alone sent shivers down my spine. I was speechless as the car moved. My eyes were still glued on him but what hurt me more was the money he had burnt.

"You didn't have to pay that much," I should be grateful but if he had given me that extra-

"Take us to a hotel," he completely ignored me. I was starting to believe this man had a problem with- Wait, a hotel?

"What! I don't want to sleep with you-"

"Dance," he finally acknowledged my presence. "You'll dance to pay me back."
