Chapter 5

Rain roused up early and prepared all the necessary things for her and her children. She took care of them right after cooking their breakfast. Taking them to bathe and helping them change their clothes.

"Alas, finish your food, alright? You'll be spending 5 hours in school so better fill your tummy with enough food." She reminded her other son as she took care of her daughter, Amy.

"I know, mommy." Alas lazily agreed.

"Wasting the graces will be punished by god, mommy, right?" Duke said. Alas glared his brother.

"I'm eating it all, Duke. Can't you see?" He seems annoyed.

"You're eating, but you're displacing the veges." Duke bashed back. Alas face dishevelled.

"You're annoying, tsk." Alas commented.

"Enough, boys. We are in front of the food." Rain lectured his boys. "And you, baby Alas, you are not allowed to leave the table if you're not eating the veges. Do you understand?"

With a heavy sigh and a heavy shoulders, Alas nodded in silence. "Okay, mommy."

Rain smiled at her son and genuinely patted his head. "Don't feel bad to your brother. He's just care about you as veges give your body good nutrients it needs."

"But he was teasing me, mommy."

Rain took a glimpse of his other son and saw Duke giggling. "Duke, say sorry to your brother."

"But I didn't do wrong, momma." Duke complained.

Rain just sighed, "You made him feel badly. You should apologize, baby."

Duke sighs guiltily and regretfully. With heavy shoulders and a heavy heart, he apologized. "Sorry, big brother. I won't tease you next time."

Rain found peace between her children. They might be naughty at times, but they're not as bad to each other, especially when apologizing.

"Great! Finish your foods quick, or you'll be late in school."

---

Before going to her work, she escorted her children to school and left a few reminders and instructions to the teacher.

"Good morning, Rain." Aiden greeted as they coincidentally bumped into each other in front of the elevator.

"Good morning, Aiden. Are you usually coming to work early?" She greeted and somehow asked.

"Nah, actually not."

"Oh? Might be one of your achievements for coming here early, congrats!" She teased. Aiden chuckled with her.

"Maybe? Thanks to you." Aiden simply commented as he entered the elevator ahead her.

She was surprised, somehow confused. "Me?" She points herself. "Why does it relate to me? I didn't do anything." She shrugged and got inside the elevator.

"Yes, you. My inner soul wants me to see you."

Rain coughed. "I'm married, Aiden." She opposed with a giggle.

"I know. I was just kidding." They were laughing when the closing of the elevator was interrupted.

"Good morning, Sir." Rain was quick to get over her laughter and greeted the boss. As usual, the boss looked deadly serious. As if he's displeased every day.

"Good morning." Uriel the Boss greeted back.

"Brother, you're unusually early today, huh?" Aiden pardoned his brother in a witty manner. Uriel glared at his younger brother, but Aiden just shrugged with a playful smirk.

"Asking me than questioning yourself. I didn't know you're clingy to me now, Aiden." Uriel fired back, and it kills the playful devil of Aiden.

Rain just stood behind the two and didn't bother to interrupt. At that moment, she just wanted to go out of the elevator and avoid hearing the two.

But it seems like the time is playing with her. The elevator feels so slow and irritating. "How was your first day, Miss Esquivel?"

Unfortunately, Rain's silence was iterrupted by uriel. Without her knowing, he was observing her through the elevator's mirror. He spoke to distract her.

"It was alright, Sir. I'm still getting use of the job." She politely said.

"Good to know. Well, gonna look forward to your performance to grow." Was the last she heard from Uriel before leaving the elevator.

"Don't make yourself too distracted with him, Rain. He's not as scary as you think. He's just moody and nothing else." Aiden said, maybe to cheer her up and to ease her worries?

"Thank you, Aiden."

They separate ways as they went to their designated working areas. The moment she reached her area was the moment her work had to be started.

She re-read the content of each file before piling it for the Boss's signature. For so many files that she checked, it took her several hours to finish half of it. Plus, answering calls for the boss.

When noon strikes, she personally asks the boss regarding its lunch.

"Sir, it's noon time. May I know your food preferences so I can order it on your behalf?"

Uriel was busy reading when he noticed Rain. "No need, Miss Esquivel. I'm not having my lunch here."

"Okay, Sir." She acknowledged his reasoning and bowed. "If you may excuse me."

"Stop." Uriel stopped her and closed the file he's currently reading. He looked at her directly to the eye.

"Yes, Sir?" She asked his pardon for stopping her suddenly.

"You're coming with me." He calmly said and took his coat from the rack.

"What?" She was surprised that she didn't notice she reacted way quickly and informal. "Sorry, but why?" But was also quick to correct it.

Uriel walked towards her direction, it feels like the moment slowed down because in her eyes, he moved slower as well. She was slightly possessed by her godly looks and well toned psyche.

"We're having a private meeting with my family."

She was stunned. His words ringing up to her eardrum like a broken alarm.

Did she hear it right?

Are they really going to meet his family?

For what purpose does it have to do with her presence?

She didn't mean to think that way, but her mind won't give her peace.

"Are you just going to stand there?" Uriel interrupted her moment as it almost made her jump.

"Oh-uh, coming. I'm sorry about that, Sir." Like a good squirrel, she caught up to her boss and gradually apologized for her sudden blankness.

Uriel never minded her behaviour and led the way out of his office and towards the exclusive elevator.

"Brother! Rain! What a coincidence." Aiden was at his way too when they bumped into each other.

"Hi, Aiden." Rain simply greeted.

Aiden waved at her cheekily. "I guess, brother tagged you with him to dine with us."

Rain is shy. She really doesn't think she has to attend with her boss to its personal affair. To avoid scolding, she just simply nods in response. As much as she could, she wanted to avoid any miscommunication with her boss and go along.

"Great!"
