Chapter 38

POV: Ericka

She woke up to someone caressing her hair. Thinking it was just a dream, she saw Monte looking down at her.

She tried to sit up, and he helped her. "Monte, is that you?"

"Yes, I came home when I found out what happened to you. Why didn't you call me?"

"I didn't want to bother you. It's just a minor thing."

"What do you mean minor? Our child almost killed you; he could have done the same to you."

"I'm fine now. I just caught a cold."

"Don't worry, I won't leave you. I'll stay right by your side. Come on, rest, and I'll just change clothes," the man assisted her to lie down.

Within a few minutes, she fell asleep. Her sleep was undisturbed, free from nightmares or any troubling dreams.

But then, she heard someone shouting. Loudly.

"Aaaah!!!! aaaahhh!" Monte screamed.

"Monte.. Monte.." she tapped him on the face. He still wouldn't budge. "Monte, wake up."

The man pushed her. It seemed like he was being chased, and she was in his way.
