Bar

Everleigh's Point of View

"Could you just enjoy it for a while? Even just for a few hours, Everleigh…” I heard Cassy complain behind me. I just sighed because she had said those words several times earlier. I could hear it but I chose to be silent.

"Everleigh, are you listening?!" Her voice was raised so I looked at her lazily. When our eyes met, I immediately read the annoyance in her eyes.

"I'm busy---" What I was about to say was cut off when she dropped the glass she was holding on the table.

"You're always saying that, Everleigh! Look at you! You're only twenty but you're working too much!" She exclaimed so I looked at her in disbelief. I laughed sarcastically.

"Because I don't have money, Cassy. We have different states in life, Cassy and I know you know that. You can hang out and have fun all the time but I'm not because I need to fucking work for my living.” I told her harshly. I immediately saw the passing of conscience in her eyes. She was about to reach me but I turned her back.

"I-I'm sorry..." I heard her say so I sighed again and closed my eyes.

"Just go, Cassy. I don't have time to fight with you. I hope you'll understand me this time again. Don't worry about me and have fun alone or with your other friends…” I uttered calmly.

"But I want to have fun with you, Everleigh... You promised me last week that you're going with me because you didn't go to my birthday party..." I froze where I was standing when I heard her voice break. She's crying. I immediately felt guilty when I remembered my promise to her. I immediately looked at her but she left. I sadly watched her go out the door until I lost sight of her. My eyes started to water.

I'm sorry, Cassy.

Cassy Medrano is my childhood best friend. She is the only one I have in my life because I am now an orphan. I sighed again as I remembered our argument earlier.

Time passed by.

"Whose house is this?" I asked her. She just smiled and held my hand. She didn't answer my question and just led me inside. A burly man greeted us at the door, making us stop. Cassy held her bag and took out something like an ID. She showed it to the man in front of us. The guy just nodded and opened the door for us.

Because I wanted to get back at Cassy, I agreed to go with her. I can't let the day go by without getting things done so I put off my work today to join her in what she wants to do.

And now, she brought me to an unfamiliar place.

What's that? I asked myself when I looked at Cassy again.

I couldn't help but be curious but my curiosity changed to shock when we were greeted by deafening, many people, and flashing lights around.

I felt Cassy hold my hand so I looked at her quickly but the intoxicating drinks on a table aroused my eyes more.

"Did we just enter a bar?!" I asked Cassy loudly as her eyes widened. I immediately read the worry in her eyes so I shook my head because of disappointment. She immediately held my hand and led me to a side where there were not many people and the music was low. It was as if my eardrums had burst.

"I'm sorry! I didn't tell you because I know you're not going here with me..." There was a hint of fear in her voice so I closed my eyes.

"Let's go home, Cassy." I said firmly and was about to turn my back on her to leave when she stopped me. I looked at her annoyed. Her frightened eyes were replaced by pleading.

Here we go again.

"Please? This is the last one, I swear..." She was begging so I didn't do anything either. I know my conscience will bother me if I won't let her enjoy this night.

"Fine but we're not going to stay here long." I said. She was jumping for joy and pulled me back into the noisy place. She looked for a place for us to sit and was very happy when she found a vacant chair and table.

"Sit there, Everleigh! I'll get some drinks!" She shouted so I could hear what she was saying. I just nodded.

While waiting for her, I watched the people around. They're dancing while drinking.

This is the first time I got here, that's why I reacted like that earlier. I'm not used to going places like this. This place is for rich, elegant, and powerful people.

How did Cassy have permission to get here? Maybe I should ask her later.

Time passed by. My vision is already spinning and the worst is I feel like I'm going to vomit anytime. Cassy gave me too many drinks. Even though I was dizzy, I tried to find where Cassy was, but I only got dizzy when I saw so many people around me. I also felt like I was going to throw up so I walked away from my table with Cassy without saying goodbye. I'll get back to her later.

I tried to find the exit of the bar and when I got out I quickly went to the side and bent down to throw up. I held my hair up so as not to vomit.

I regret that I agreed to what Cassy wanted. I will pull her hair tomorrow, I swear!

When I felt that my feelings had settled, I immediately stood up, but it was a mistake because my world seemed to spin. I know that I am going to fall on the ground so I prepared myself.

Seconds passed by but I didn't feel my body fall on the ground. My eyes were half-opened so I realized someone caught me. I tried to stand up but suddenly my vision went dark.

The only thing I remember is that a guy with a tattoo on his chest carried me.
