Go Away, Sage!

Everleigh's Point of View

"K-Keith, let's go..." My hands were shaking and I grabbed Keith's hand to leave but before we could leave a hand stopped me.

"Everleigh..." I heard Sage's voice so I looked at him full of anger. I let go of his hand that was holding my arm.

"Leave." I said harshly but he didn't move at all. He's just looking at me intently. I can also read begging in his eyes.

"Let's talk---" Before he could finish what he had to say, my right hand spontaneously raised to slap him on his right cheek. The sound of my slap echoed. His head tilted because of that but he immediately returned his gaze to me. I looked at him angrily.

"Bullshit, Sage! We have nothing to talk about! Just fucking leave and don't ever come back!” I shouted at him. He was about to reach my hands again but Keith held me and suspected that I would enter the house again.

Aunt Kris immediately went near us, still carrying the sleeping Bella. I immediately took Bella from her and hugged her tightly. The tears I had been holding back came out on their own. My heart feels heavy right now.

“Bella…” I whispered while crying.

"What happened, Everleigh? Who's that guy?" I heard Aunt Kris asked.

"It was Bella's father, Mom." I heard Keith answer for me. I heard that Aunt Kris gasped. Only Keith who's the one knows my story.

"Go to your room first, Everleigh. I'll take care of it…” I heard Keith say so I turned to him. I saw the sadness in his eyes when he saw me crying.

He immediately went near me and wiped my tears.

"Shhh... Don't cry... I won't let him get close to you and Bella..." He uttered. I nodded several times. He smiled.

I breathed a sigh of relief in the days that passed because Sage didn't bother us again. I don't want to see him again. I won't let him see and touch Bella either. I became the mother and the father of Bella when he denied my daughter that night so he has no rights to Bella.

Today, Bella and I are the only ones left at home. Aunt Kris and Keith left to go to the market to buy some stuff and food. While waiting on the terrace I played with Bella. She's giggling so I smiled and kissed her fluffy cheeks.

“Everleigh…” My smiles quickly faded when I heard the voice of the man I hated again. I quickly stood up to go into the house but it was too late because Sage blocked me.

"What do you want, Sage?! Did I tell you not to bother me anymore?!” I couldn't stop my voice from rising even though I was holding Bella.

He looked at me sadly but when Bella started crying he turned his gaze to Bella. He was about to touch Bella but I immediately pulled back.

"Don't you ever try to touch her, Sage." There was a threat in my voice.

"I-Is she your daughter?" Sage asked stutteringly. I looked at him badly.

"Yes, Sage. She's my daughter, she's only mine." I answered him in a hard voice. He smiled a little and turned his gaze to his car. A man came down with paper bags on his hands.

When he got close to us, he placed his things in front of me.

“Please get this, Everleigh. I brought this for you and for my daughter…” Sage uttered, making me laugh.

"Wait, what?" I asked in amazement.

"I brought that for you and for my daughter---" What he was going to say was interrupted when I laughed again. I'm laughing sarcastically.

What's wrong with this guy? After he denied everything, he was here as if nothing had happened to us.

"Your daughter? Sage, are you out of your fucking mind?!” I was annoyed by my question. He held his head and looked at me sadly.

"This baby is not your daughter, Sage. You denied us, Sage. Can't you remember? After that night, you just threw me like you didn't do anything and now you're calling my daughter like that? Go away, Sage. Take everything you have with you and don't come back." I said hard again. His lips parted. I didn't want to talk to him anymore because Bella was already crying so I turned my back on him but before I could take a step I heard him speak again.

"I'm sorry for denying you and our daughter, Everleigh..." Sage uttered.

"It's too late, Sage." I answered coldly and went inside the house.

"Why are you quiet, Everleigh? Is there something happened?” I heard Keith ask. He and Aunt Kris arrived a while ago. I was thankful because Sage left before they arrived.

"I'm fine, Keith. I'm just a little tired because Bella took long before she sleeps." I answered. He smiled and caressed my hair.

"I'm sorry because I’m not here when Bella cried." He answered, so I smiled at him.

"It's fine. Aunt Kris needs you more and I can do it…” I uttered. He smiled again.

"By the way, I brought some snacks. Your favorites. I'll just get them…” He said goodbye. I quickly nodded and turned my gaze to Bella who was asleep in the crib.

I never mentioned Sage coming here to Keith. I'm sure he'll be mad when I tell him.

As the days passed by, Sage didn't come back again and it's a relief for me because honestly I'm tired of arguing with him but I don't know because there's a part of me that wants to see him again.

One afternoon, I was going home. I came from work. I'm just humming a song while walking and when I got close to the house, I frowned when I heard someone fighting. I sped up my pace and that's how surprised I was when I saw Sage and Keith punching each other. My whole body went cold when I saw that Sage's face was covered in blood. I ran up to them and got between them.

"Please fucking stop!" I shouted.
