Elly Everyone’s eyes were on the ceiling before slowly lowering to meet each other’s. “Mom, please. Do it now.” Said Darren as Rebekah pinched the bridge of her nose. “Do it, Rebekah.” Elly’s words shocked everyone in the room including herself. “What the fuck!” Amber hissed at her and grabbed her arm. “I won’t let them sacrifice you but I’m also not going to let any more of my family get torn apart by fucking wolves.” She snatched her arm away from her cousin and walked toward the family that had tormented her all her life. “Bind me to Darren and we can get out of this mess. But don’t touch Amber or I’ll make sure the next meal those wolves have are you two.” She pointed the knife at them again. They glanced at each other trying to figure out what she was up to. There were very few times when she was ever this agreeable. No matter how much they told her her purpose, she fought and argued with them. She accepted that this was the life that her parents left her with, but it didn’
Elly Everything happened so fast that it was a blur. With a deafening crack, the door flew off the hinges and broke apart as it hit the back of the couch. A large brown wolf stepped into the basement. Its large teeth were bared and the thick smoke rolling in around it made the low growl more menacing. Darren stepped forward dragging Elly with him. She pulled against his grip. He may be able to use magic but she couldn’t. Now that they were bound together he didn’t need physical contact to have access to her power. The wolf moved closer to them followed by two more. Darren looked down at Elly and smirked. In an instant, Elly felt all the energy drain from her body. Her knees buckled and Darren’s searing palm burned the skin of her forearm. He held up his hand and an inferno erupted from his fingertips. It engulfed the three wolves and filled the room with their howls and whimpers. The smell of singed fur and flesh made Elly gag. Darren wrenched Elly back to her feet. “This is just
Rowan The last thing Rowan wanted or needed was a pissed-off witch. Lena’s eyes took in the book in his hands and drifted to the passed-out Kara snoring quietly in the lounge chair. Rowan didn’t know what to do. He could push past her and leave, there was little she could do to stop him. Or he could try to smooth things over. He’d learned just how pliable Lena could be. He slid the book back on the shelf where he could it and approached Lena. “She had a couple drinks and nodded off. I’ve been dying to look around in here since I was a kid. Was this library always here? I swear it’s new.” He got closer to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Her face and neck were beet red as she refused to look Rowan in the eye. He tightened his grip on her and moved his face closer. “Come on, give me a tour. We can pick up where we left off.” He let his lips trail down her neck. Touching her set his skin on fire. It wasn’t the good kind that consumed him and left him begging for more. It was t
Rowan It was the first thing that came to his mind but he meant it. Not only did she lie about being a witch but she was so powerful that she was going to lead to the destruction of his pack. It enraged him. Elly looked at him with pure shock until her features morphed into a rage that could equal his own. “What the hell are you talking about?” She snapped back at him. “I was under some sort of spell or influence and it took you all of two seconds to stop me. Instead of pretending to be helpless, you could have stopped those rogues. No one needed to die here.” Rowan wasn’t used to feeling helpless. He was the strongest wolf in any pack he’s seen yet when it came to the witches he was unable to lift a finger to stop them. Yet this powerful woman was content to sit back and do nothing. She shifted off of the ground and moved into his face. “If you think I enjoy not being able to use my magic you’re even dumber than you look.” With her so close to his face he was able to see the massi
Amber The three of them were left standing in stunned silence. Whatever drug those psychos gave Amber was mostly gone but she could still feel it weighing her down. She had to force her connection to her magic and she could feel it was strained. The stress of it his her all at once and she felt her knees buckle. Before she could hit the ground soft fur moved against her. It rapidly turned into skin. Amber blinked her eyes. She wasn’t used to seeing werewolves let alone being so close to one as it transformed. The tall man looked down at her with his big blue eyes and held her close. “Thanks. You can let me go now, I’m okay.” She cleared her throat and tried to move away. His grip didn’t budge. He just stared at her with that same intense gleam. “Luke, we’ve got to go get them. Did you smell all that wolfsbane? There’s no way Eris should be on his feet right now. I can’t imagine how he’s even fighting.” The reddish-brown wolf transformed and tossed a pair of shorts to Luke as he slip
Elly Every bit of Elly’s body was screaming with pain and exhaustion. The wound on her shoulder was the biggest culprit. She found she could stop her own bleeding, doing so took a lot more energy than she imagined. The wolves had originally bound her hands and made her walk alongside them as they marched them through the woods. But after she nearly collapsed they made Rowan carry her while they marched. As he walked she could feel his muscles moving against her. Everywhere they touched her skin was on fire. Elly couldn’t help her muscles being stiff as he cradled her in his arms. “I didn’t need you to carry me, I just tripped.” She said low enough for only him to hear her. She was still pissed at him. The more she thought about things the more her emotions moved toward rage. Why did he come to her family’s coven looking for her? He might not have known who she was when they slept together but he was still looking for her knowing his parents killed hers. The whole thing made her sick.
Elly “That’s impossible.” She shook her head, still too afraid to come out from behind Rowan. “Mates are supposed to be important, right? But I’ve never seen you before now.” She said peering out at him. His wide chest heaved as he sighed. “You were promised to me when I was a child. But you were taken and hidden. When I finally found you I had to wait for the right time to retrieve you.” Elly narrowed her eyes at walked around Rowan. He tried grabbing at her to pull her back but she slipped away. Dane’s eyes brightened as she approached him, a smile spreading across his face. “Retrieve me?” Before anyone could say anything she hauled back and slapped his face as hard as she could. Everything from her arm to her wounded shoulder was screaming in pain but it was worth it. His head barely turned. He looked down at her with his big black eyes. “Retrieve me? Like some object that you misplaced. You call me your mate yet you knew where I was this whole time and you left me there. Left me
Rowan “Mate.” That asshole said it with so much calm and confidence that Rowan had difficulty processing what he said. He couldn’t help but ask for clarification. When his hand moved to pull Elly behind him he knew Eris was coming back from the poison. Lies. It was one word but it was enough to confirm what Rowan was thinking. The more the rogue talked the more uncomfortable he got. Why did he seem so familiar? “I’m Dane, Alpha of the Blackcrest Pack. I can see you’re confused so I’ll speak in small words. Our pack is one of the oldest packs around. We were attacked over twenty years ago, our people either stolen or murdered. We’re taking back out people. We’re taking back our land. And I will be taking back my mate.” Rowan frowned at his words. His eyes darted around hoping some of the wolves had dispersed. Instead, it appeared more had shown up. Did you hear that Eris? He asked hoping his wolf had regained his strength. With or without him Rowan had superhuman strength. He could pr
