Chapter 11

Avery sat at her desk, staring blankly at the screen before her. Her mind was in a whirl as she thought of the incident earlier.

She still couldn't believe what she'd been through. Since she'd been young, this was the first time someone other than Jessica had shielded her like that. And to think that the person doing so was a man whom she'd slept with!

There was a warm feeling in her heart.

"Don't cry anymore, Vi. Your makeup's getting ruined."

"That's right, Vi! Mr. Lavigne didn't say anything bad about you. You're the prettiest and most skilled person among all of us. He'd never say a thing against you!"
