Chapter 53

I picked up the thumb drive and used my breath to blow off the dust from the shattered vase off it. My heart was beating hard and my nerves were going crazy. It was like all time had stopped.

I stood to my feet and sniffled as a small smile corrupted my lips. This could be it. This could be the thumb drive that could change everything for the better. It could be the instrument that could vindicate Samuel and free my mom.

I let out a small laugh and then headed out of the room hurriedly. “Dad?” I called out to him as I headed down the hallway toward the stairs. “Dad?!” I called out loudly.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I ran into him. “Is something wrong? I heard you call for me?” He asked as worry filled his eyes.

“I found…I found it, dad.” I chuckled happily as I showed the thumb drive to him.

“Oh, my gosh.” He stared at it as he laughed cheerily. “Are you sure it’s it?”
