Alright, I managed most of the month on a daily update. But I am going down to twice a week, since trying to get to everything is kicking my butt. I will update Mondays and Fridays from now on. Hope you are enjoying the story so far.
Gemma She was ashamed to admit that she found herself sleeping in Dale’s bed again. It was like her first shift had strengthened Daisy, or emboldened her, she wasn’t sure which. But she closed her eyes to rest them in the middle of the night and when she opened them again, she was well rested and lying in Dale’s bed. He seemed amused at her confusion, followed closely by her huff of annoyance when she realized what had happened. “You two are going to have to find some common ground, Darling.” He said gently, though his tone was earnest. She knew that, but Daisy seemed to think it wasn’t necessary. “Tell her that; I don’t even remember how I got here. It’s like she’s trying to take over everything.” She retorted with annoyance. “She needs to know you two are partners; the harder you fight her, the harder she will fight.” “I don’t like losing control.” She confessed in a small voice. “It’s not losing control, Darling. Daisy will never do anything to harm you because she is
Gemma After breakfast, Charlie showed Alpha Gregory and Alpha Winston into the parlor. They had agreed to draw in the neighboring packs to assist with housing, since the tournament had invitations had blown up and they didn’t have enough space to house all the visitors. She chose the parlor, since she didn’t like the formality of the alpha’s office, which didn’t feel comfortable to her at all. Even with the change in prizes that ranged from small gifts from the new pack members’ businesses to her assistance with business and finance along with Charlie’s sponsored financial prizes and Tamara’s rare potions, wolves were lining up to attend the tournament. Tamara had mentioned that they might do this tournament annually if this year was a success. Gemma was still on the fence with this, but with everyone insisting she was the change they needed, she felt guilty with not at least trying to help the wolves survive. Gemma was dressed in one of her new smart business dresses with a bla
Dale He was so proud of his mate for the way she handled the meeting. She was really shining in her ability to do business with the cranky old alphas who had seemed to underestimate her from the start. Of course he hadn’t missed their complete surprise when he’d stood to serve them instead of his mate. It was time the old dogs learned some new tricks. And that was to accept his mate for her business and logistical talents. He had completely underestimated her in the beginning, but he would do his utmost to make up for that. Of course, Duke has been demanding that he mark their mate, but they had to show patience, since she had not been prepared at all. He would continue with his plan to date his mate, like he had discussed with Elder Stuart. She deserved to be treated like a queen for everything she had faced and was rising above, but it was difficult to find a time to date her with everything happening. He had been p
Gemma She was nervous about this meeting; she didn’t know what to expect. The council of Elders had completely disregarded her opinions and bulldozed her protests to insist on their decisions being done without hesitation; she couldn’t imagine this going any better. Dale seemed to sense her unease and gently wrapped her hand in his large one, entwining their fingers and gently squeezing her hand in understanding. She was really not sure what to make of him; he had changed completely since she had awakened from her coma. He was attentive and doting and she wasn’t sure what to do about it, aside from not trusting it. It had to be the mate bond causing his change. From her evening reading on supernatural beings, the mate bond was something wolves could not resist. It had some effect on her, but all she could think was that it was not as strong because she was a human first. Daisy rolled her eyes. “Thank you, Daisy for taking the brunt of the mate bond so we’re not climbing our
DaleHe felt like an idiot while at the same time feeling like his heart had leapt into his throat and was slowly choking him. Was this what human males felt like? This was a horrible method of torture! Why was this not banned from the human world when they banned other tortures?Attempting to take a deep breath past his constricted throat, he shuffled the items in his hand and then knocked on the door; it was just before she would come out of her room for the morning run. It was the only time he knew he would catch her alone and she would not be busy with some project. She really needed to learn to slow down. She would burn out at the rate she was going. If he had a better standing with her, he would have stepped in, but she was still not exactly trusting him. And he got that information from a very good source; Daisy. Daisy told Duke, who told him that she was just waiting for him to drop her again. She tho
Dale Finally they traipsed their way back to where they had started. Then he kept watch for her while she stripped and shifted into her wolf, before he did the same, while she adorably blushed and stared into the distance. Apparently, just the thought of him stripping in the bushes near her had her blushing. She was so adorably shy, he loved it. Of course, he had every intention of exploiting that once she accepted him. He and Duke both had so many things they wanted to do with and to their mates. Once Duke took over they were pushed into the back of their minds and he wondered how Gemma was handling it with not being in control. Duke answered him as soon as the thought came up. “Daisy says she’s planning things she needs to do and apparently decorating.” “Decorating?” “She says their inner mind is filled with plans to change the pack house. She hates what it looks like now and calls it pompous. She wants it to be more welcoming and less…showy.” “I can see that; she doesn
GemmaThey were up to their elbows in last minute preparations before the tournament. Wolves would arrive in the morning and they were busy setting up the welcoming packages. Each contained the rules expected of visitors while the tournament was running, a list of businesses that the visitors might find useful, discount coupons from a few of the businesses, registration forms for the tournament and a map of the town and the tournament setup and the itinerary. She was surprised when she showed up in the parlor that morning and found a whole team waiting for her to give them orders. The planner had discussed options with her and they had decided on biodegradable seeded paper for everything. She loved the colorful boxes that would hold the welcoming packages and would become a bed of wild flowers when it was tossed. They were all in the colors set out for the tournament and were put together so it could stand up on a flat surface.Thei
DaleThey had driven directly to the River Bend pack in the two SUV’s and inspected the rooms. Apparently their entourage drew a lot of attention from the River Bend pack members since gossip had spread about the first rogue female Alpha from Sundown Delta. It seemed to be quite interesting to the wolves.Despite the interest in them, they managed to make good time on the inspections and Gemma’s attention to detail became even more obvious. Fifteen rooms were ready for inhabitants and Alpha Gregory seemed like a pup with his excitement. He insisted that they stay for lunch when he heard of everything that still had to happen.Granted, they would have liked to have some time between welcoming the new members of their pack and the tournament, but the work had only been done recently and the transfer had been agreed to earlier this week. He did hope that their lives would calm down at some point, because this measure of wor
