Chapter 34 Augustine Must Pay The Price

Augustine POV

I wondered whether I could have grabbed her if I had been able to escape Rhoda sooner after she leaped since everything I witnessed at that precise moment felt like it had been slowed down.

"Griffin!" I allowed my wolf to almost immediately rush over, but when Griffin turned to face me with pathos in his eyes, it seemed as though I had just realized for the first time what it was like to have a broken heart—, it would feel like someone plowed my heart out alive right now, but my soul still kept bleeding.

I'm not sure how I managed to escape Rhoda, but I felt like I was walking on a path of thorns as I made my way toward the edge. It was too agonizing. Perhaps Keira had seized a vine or something else as she waited for me to save her, and I moved quickly. But the more I drew near the cliff's brink, the more I became aware of what was ahead. My hands started shaking as soon as I realized what Griffin's eyes were saying.
