"He did WHAT?!" my growl thundered my bureau. My Assistant literally jumped to his feet. The two wolves next in rank bowed their heads scared to look me in the eye.

"The Alpha of the Cave Wolf pack surrendered, my king. Based on our informant inside their territory, the Chosen Maiden ordered them to leave and never to attack the two kingdoms without her permission!"

Thaddeus, my long-time assistant stepped back frightened. I hadn't seen this coming. The Chosen Maiden is on his side. On their side. What would happen to me now? What would happen to my kingdom?
