Megan POV

I paced back and forth in the room, a sense of unease gnawing at my insides. I had this inexplicable feeling that something significant was about to happen, and the absence of Khalid only intensified my restlessness.

I had tried inquiring with the maids and guards, but none of them seemed to know where he was. It was as if he had vanished into thin air.

I glanced at the clock, its steady ticking reminding me of the passing time. Each minute felt like an eternity, and the uncertainty weighed heavily on my shoulders. What could be keeping Khalid? Why hadn’t he returned yet?

I searched my mind, grasping at any possible explanation for his absence. Was he caught up in a meeting or engaged in an urgent matter?

Perhaps he had encountered an unexpected obstacle or lost track of time. The possibilities swirled in my head, but none of them provided solace.

As I continued to wait, my impatience grew, intertwined with a worry that I couldn’t shake off.
