The snow had stopped coming down, and I was ecstatic. I jumped out of bed and rushed to the closet to throw on clothes and my boots. Cade mind linked me as I was brushing my teeth. "What is the rush?" "It is winter, solstice. There is so much to do." I peeked out of the bathroom to see Cade still lying there. He had moved the pillow to cover his face. "Take your time this morning. I have much to do with Helen, Kimi, Saka, Len, and Robert. Don't open your gift yet. That is later." I ran to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead.His arms reached out, wrapped around me, and pulled me to the bed. "Stay in bed. It is a holiday; we have nothing scheduled." He mind linked. CadeEveryone was in high spirits. The drinking had already started and Kaya and her friends where bottomless pits. I didn't know how they drank so much. Kaya mind linked me. "We should announce the tattoos then they can talk about it ask questions and then we can do the hunt." We had talked about days prior how to talk to the pack about the pack tattoo. Then I thought about Kaya hunting. She was fairly drunk already how did she plan on hunting. I had never seen anyone shift who had alcohol in their systems. I looked at the pack and most people where feeling the effects and I wondered how that would all work. Kaya When I brought my group into the woods, I looked at them and mind-linked them. "Okay, I know you all want to hunt, but unlike the other groups' hunting, you have me, so the question is, what do you want to hunt?" I mainly had younger wolves. Ones I taught at the high school. Cade Kaya and her friends were all sitting around the massive fire they had built. It was as big as the one they always kept burning when they lived in the North. I was next to my mate as we listened to Saka tell the story of his first hunt. He was signing as he talked so Kaya could know what he was saying. "Then I came upon a group of reindeer; I had to do the formation we used to hunt when there is a herd all by myself. It was a long chase with no one to corner the creature." I looked around at my pack, which was engrossed in his story. Everyone who was here was in high spirits. Those from the North were still drinking and far too gone. KayaI stumbled into the packhouse. I was definitely drunk. I knew a bathroom was on the first floor; I just had to find it. I stumbled through the empty house. Everyone was outside. I finally made it to the bathroom and did what I had to do. I looked at myself in the mirror. My cheeks were red from the cold, but I was so warm. I nearly tripped when I came out of the room. Kaya I woke up in our bed. Everything that happened earlier this morning coming back to me. There was no light shining through the window. Was it night already. What time was it? How long had I been asleep? "Cade," I mind-linked. "You are awake?" "Yeah, what time is it? Where are you." "Just stay in bed. I will bring you some food, and then we can talk, okay." "That is fine." I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I wanted to brush my teeth and wash my face. I changed into some comfy leggings and one of Cade's shirts. To cover my toes, I put on a pair of fuzzy socks. I was comfy.My hair looked like a rat's nest, so I brushed it out and returned to the bed. I looked at the few quilts I had made. They looked good in here. I stood making the bed. Cade I took Kaya downstairs. I had the tree already set up. Mark and Helen were there, as were Kimi and Robert. Saka and Len decided to spend the holiday with their new mate's family. That, however, did not stop them from coming by every day to check on their friend. They had been here this afternoon to check and see if she had woken up. I would need to mind-link them and tell them what was going on. I also called Nieva, who was so distraught over the news that I could hear her crying into the phone. I knew Kaya herself was upset. I knew she would try to shove it down, but the news of what could have happened distressed her. She most likely was pregnant now, and we would find out in a few days, but she would most likely never have more children. We would probably only ever have one. It was a hard blow. Kaya Cade looked at me as we lay in bed. Neither of us wanted to be physical. "How did you like the movies?" He mind linked me. "They were funny, though.
