I’m sitting on the giant rock, looking at the time on my phone for the hundredth time. She is late. I sighed, her mom must have ran her harder than normal or she couldn’t sneak away as easily today. I am just about to give up and go back home when I hear her crashing through the brush. She is shifted with her knife in her mouth. As soon as she sees me, she drops her knife and shifts back, she has been crying again... she thinks I can’t see it, but I can. Wolves cry too.

“Sorry I’m late.” She mutters, before smiling at me and putting her knife in her waistband. “My mom kept me later than normal. Seems she is not happy with me...” The tears start to well in her eyes now and I slide off the rock and hug her as she starts to cry. “So-sorry.” She wipes her tears before she steps back and smiles again. “How are you?”
