23. Let's Play

Logan

Daniel walks over to Trisha, who is wiping her tears. My heart twitches at the sight of the little girl crying.

"It's alright, sweetie. Why don't I read your favorite book in bed?" Daniel says in a gentle tone.

Trisha rubs her eyes. "But I'm not sleepy."

"It's bedtime, Trisha. You know the rules," Daniel tucks her hair behind her ear.

Trisha looks at me. "I want you to read me a story!"

I point at myself questioningly. "Me?"

Trisha nods, so I walk over to her with a grin. Kids always liked me for some strange reason. I'm not sure why.

"Err...Trish. You shouldn't force Logan. He is a guest and..." Daniel starts mumbling, but I stop him.

"No one is forcing me. I'm an excellent storyteller, so I'm happy to do it," I said. I walk over to Trisha and pick her up. "You ready to hear some crazy stories, princess?" I gush.

"YES!" Trisha is equally enthusiastic.

"But not too crazy," Daniel protests.

"Yeah, yeah, let's go," I chirp and take her back to her room to tuck her in.
