CHAPTER 48: GIVE THE DEVIL AN INCH AND HE TAKES A MILE
On this fateful Thursday, time seemed to have stood still for Tracy. Her assumption had been that Susie would call her at some point in the day to tell her that she was heading home with Tanasha. Every time the phone rang, Tracy anxiously answered it thinking it was Susie calling. As the minutes turned to hours and the day moved on, Susie’s call never came. Tracy forced herself not to call Susie so as not to raise any suspicions. Afterall, they rarely spoke to each other during the day unless it was absolutely necessary. They prioritised their work so she decided to maintain this arrangement in case anyone would look into this in days to come. Tracy looked at her watch for the umpteenth time that afternoon. It was finally 5:30 pm and she took out her cell phone to call Susie. Tracy had been anxious all day but it was now a good time to call Susie without any suspicion.
