Chapter 5

Alexis POV

We entered the class and saw our English teacher writing on the board.

"You're late," she said still focusing on the board.

"We're so sorry," I say smiling and I lead the way to our usual seats at the back but then I remembered there was no vacant spots for three anywhere near us.

"There's only 1 available seat near us" I say turning to them.

"There will be three don't worry," Xavier remarked.

I have to admit, since we first met, those were the most words I've ever heard him say.

"O-kay," I say unsure of what he meant by that.

Tyler glanced towards Xavier, and it appeared as though Tyler understood what the look meant as recognition clouded his face, but before he moved off, he look as if he had slightly bowed. He reached the back where two girls were chatting away. After speaking with them for a short while, I noticed that they were nodding and getting up with their belongings.

"He just kindly asked them to move," Xavier said walking past us.

"What are you doing still stand—" she was cut off when she saw Xaviar walking past her.

"Wait are you the three—, I mean, you are the three new transfers. Welcome to my English class,"

"Thank you," Vy says smiling.

"You can go ahead and have your seats and kindly introduce yourselves,"

"Who knew introducing yourself could be this exhausting," I hear Xavier say as I took my seat behind him. When did he get so chatty not that I'm complaining really.

"Hi everyone, my name is Vylet Pierce with a 'y' but you can call me by Vy" says mirroring her introduction earlier.

"I'm Tyler Anderson," Tyler said bluntly leaning back in his seat. I can't say I blame him; if I had to keep introducing myself, I would be so tired of it by now.

"I'm Xavier Hunter," Xavier said not even glancing up from his notebook.

He was doodling. I smiled but quickly wiped it off, confused at why I was smiling. He then suddenly turned sideways in his seat with his right arm resting on my desk.

"Excellent," Miss Sinclair says walking toward the board.

"I was going to ask for more additional information than just your names, but then I got this idea," she continued.

"Don't tell me—," I say banging my head against my book.

"Yup she's finally given it to us," Alex said sliding down slightly in his seat, catching on to what I was thinking.

"Give us what?" Brit and Vy asked in unison.

"She's gonna make us write about ourselves," I answered simply.

"You've got to be kidding me. I've been in this body for 17 years now and I still don't know shit," Britt says which made me laugh.

"Ask Alex about stuff you don't know about," I say shrugging casually.

"What do you mean?" she asked turning bright red with every second that was passing by,

"I mean you can always ask me, being your best friend and all, but we both know Alex is the most observant, and likes to remember small details out of the both of us," I say trying to shrug off the fact that Alex was just too dumb to recognize the girl in front of him.

"Mmh," he hums.

"And don't forget the 'smarter' title," he says giving a cheeky smile.

"What are we talking about again?" I asked faking confusion.

I hear Vy and Tyler laugh, I turn my attention to the teacher who finished writing the instructions on the board but then I got distracted by the small smile that stretched across Xavior's lips, which made me smile.

What is happening to me?

"You have until the end of class," Miss says.

"Lovely," I hear Brit grumble.

"So much for nothing weird about that Fiona girl," Alex says leaning towards me behind Brit. I scrunched up my face at him.

"How—" I stopped because I really didn't know how to respond to this, so I just shrugged,

"I mean it's always the innocent looking ones," I simply say trying to brush him off "And these three doesn't look innocent at all right?" I ask him to expect an answer, but he didn't, he eased up from his leaning position and fixed himself in his seat.

"But bro for real, I really didn't expect Fiona to you know—" Brit says not finishing her sentence, but we all knew what she meant.

"How long has she been here?" Vy asked turning to face us.

"Just last week," I said as I wrote down a few jottings on my creative writing.

"Damn," Tyler says.

"We really didn't know much about her though, heard that her information was a bit confidential. So, all we've been hearing are made-up rumors, rumors the kids spread so they could successfully fill their gossip void," I say.

"What you think is gonna happen to her?" Tyler asked.

Brit shrugs, "School most likely will sign her up for therapy or something else,"

"Mmh" I hear Vy hum.

After all curious questions were asked and responded to, we went into complete silence focusing on our work.

"Campbell, mind introducing me to your new friends?"

I cringed at the annoying face that stood towering over my food.

"I do mind," I say bluntly. She rolled her eyes and turned her gaze to Xavier, putting off her snotty annoying attitude.

"Hi, my name is Beatrice Willows, and I'm a senior here," she says walking to where he was and holding out her hand for him to shake, but he just continued to scroll on his phone. I folded my lips try not to laugh out.

Despite not reading the room she withdrew her hand and continued, "You're Xavier Hunter from LA right?" Los Angeles huh.

He looked up from his phone, brows slightly forward.

"As if you haven't already caught on, news travels fast around here," she says a little too jumpy with her emotions.

I hear Brits sigh and start clicking her tongue beside me.

"I know right," I say to her.

He hummed but not once did he take his eyes off his phones to look at her.

"Well, I'll see you around baby," she said making me automatically react by fake throwing up. She huffed and walked off with her clique behind her but immediately bumping into Alex.

"Hey Alex," she said in a flirtatious tone.

"H- hey," Alex said stuttering and he quickly found his seat beside me.

I looked to Brit who was already looking at me and we burst out laughing.

"Who was that? Xavier asked.

"Someone who thinks she's queen of the school just because she has a little more, well I wouldn't say little, but you know a little more money than others," I tell them.

"Our own little to snobby bitch," Burt added.

"Mmh," Vy hummed. "So, Lexi, is Alex your only sibling?" she asked while I took a bite of whatever Mrs. Jones placed on my plate.

I nodded "Yeah,"

"How about you Brit, any siblings?" She asked.

"Nope, I'm the only child," Brit responded.

"Same, always wanted a little sister though," Vy declared.

"Yeah, me too when I was younger, but I grew up to learn that Alex was enough trouble for me," I say blowing a breath out and holding my chest in a dramatic way.

"Love you too," Alex says chiming in. I gave a playful fake smile, but then I momentarily turned my attention to the two boys who was across from me.

"How about you both?"

"Only child," Tyler says.

"Same," Xavier says finally putting down his phone and looking at me.

"I love books do you read?" Vy asks and I tore my gaze off Xavier as I see Vy looking at me.

"No, I don't," I responded and somehow, I felt embarrassed.

"But I love movies," I relate.

"Favorite genre?"

"ROM COM and adventure. What's your favorite genre of books? I ask her in return.

"I love horror, and that genre with vampires, fairies, werewolves you know," she says looking keenly at me.

In my peripheral vision I all heads turned towards me, but I kept my head straight in Vy's direction.

"Supernatural," I say helping out.

"O my God yes," she says smiling "I knew it started with an S, couldn't pinpoint the word though," she says biting her lips, eyes narrowing slightly at the roof.

"I love movies, but I'm not into the supernatural stuff really,"

"Yeah, once I took her to go watch this werewolf movie and she sucked at staying still, I remember you going pale too," Brit says looking at me laughing.

"When was this?" Alex asked quickly in an alerting tone, but he suddenly sank back in his seat when everyone at the table looked at him weirdly.

"The time you told us that you would rather chill out at home rather than hang out with us," Brit responded.

"You told me you were just gonna head out to Shake Shack's. No wonder y'all were taking so long, I even fell asleep waiting for my cheeseburger," he said putting his hand over his heart trying his best to look betrayed, but Brit just shrugs.

"We were in the mood for a movie," she uttered.

"Traumatizing one at that," Brit burst out laughing again.

"Not funny, those things are terrifying," I say.

"It's just a movie, purely fictional," she said making sure that I didn't miss the emphasize word 'Fictional'.

I glared at her, "Yet you got so scared thinking Annabelle was out to get you," I say raising my brows and she gasps.

"You even went to watch Annabelle?" Alex asks in a shocking tone. I took a breath in and slowly breathed out taking out his phone now trying to completely ignore us.

"What's Annabelle?" The three asked in unison. I stared at them wondering if they were joking or not but the looks on their faces says they were not. I folded my lips and smacked them.

"It's a Horror movie," I say simply.

"Really," Vy says perking up at the word horror and I nodded.

"We can watch it sometime together," I suggested, and she smiled nodding her head hastily.

"Werewolves are the things that are not real. I'm 100% sure Annabelle is, I search it and they have the real doll and the other haunted items in some museum in Monroe," I gave her a dumbfounded look.

"I can admit that werewolves are not real but come on," I say chuckling.

"So while the plot of the Annabelle movies isn't based on true stories, some of the basic concepts found in the movies. The part about Anabelle searching for souls is real," she says looking terrified and she flopped her phone down on the table. I shook my head at her and looked at Alex looking at her trying not to laugh but he quickly went expressionless when he saw me looking at him. He rolled his eyes and went back to looking back at his phone.

"Tyler follows me to get something from my car will you," I hear Xavier say and a chuckle escaped his lips.

"I'll come too," Alex says also getting up.

"Nah it's cool," Xavier protests.

"It really isn't a bother," He pushes "It'll help me get away from these 2 nagging betrayers," he said looking at me and Brit and I made-up my face in response. He gave me one of 'Xiao Zian' looking cheeky smile and looked to Xavier once again.

"Plus, I need to talk to you about something,"

"What could he possibly have to say to Xavier" I thought to myself.

"Well ok," Xavier says finally, and he turned to Tyler indicating he was moving off but before he moved off, he turned to me.

"I'll be back," he says to me.

"Huh, oh okay, yeah," I gave him a small smile and the three walked off leaving us girls alone at the table.

What in the binoculars?
