Chapter 33: Living payments

I wonder what she would possibly want from me. Would she kick me out if I didn't have any coins? Would she maybe make me work? I knew how to do mundane, village tasks, however, I hadn't done it in over a few years. I'm not sure if I could still do it. Before I could say anything she beat me to it.

Shaking her head as she said, "I have been alone in these woods for quite some time now. As a practicer of the magical arts, I have a lot of knowledge. Your payment is merely for you to let me share my findings with you." She said with a hopeful smile. My heart melted, she is lonely. I gave her a big smile, "Of course, it would be my pleasure."

Her eyes sparkled with excitement and oddly, anticipation and foresight? I must be imagining it. "I don't have any children and no one else lives in these woods besides the indigenous people. So I have no one to carry on all my information." Aphy says in an almost sombre voice.

"Now let's get you a different dress, yeah?"
