Chapter 32: We have a problem

Entering the tavern, the prattle falling dead silent. I would have sent a messenger boy, but there is no time for that, I went back to the head guard, also the first elf to be let into the kingdom, Hazel.

"Good-noon, King Levi." She says with a bow, tucking her firey; coral-colored; curly hair behind her pointed ear. "Ah, but it is already past noon, dear Red," I respond, with a sly grin.

I found Hazel in the dungeons not long after I took over the throne. She'd also been trying to remove my father from his royal position. He didn't like that, or her race, and had imprisoned her, about to behead her as well. She was ill-fed and on her last legs.

She was the only one willing to stand up against that horrible man. I had appointed her as head guard, as a reward. Doing all that after instructing the doctor to get back to optimal health. She smiles back at me, "What brings you here my king?" She asks, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
