Marine psychology.
I was doing two majors in college: Marine Biology and Business. The Business major was studies to prepare me to take over the family business, my Dad's company. Marine Biology was to help me understand marine life. This was my Mom's idea. It was either I learned about it in college or she would have sent me to the ocean to be a 'real' prince.
Regardless of the extra push from my parents regarding my education choices, I was an excellent student. Straight A student. Unlike my friends, I had a photographic memory. I could read a passage in the morning and remember it three months later. Mom said it was because of who I was: a part of her mer-family. According to her, mer-folks mentally soaked up anything and everything. Therefore, I had never failed a course before.

The ringtone from my cell phone blasted through the room. It had for the past few minutes. There was a part of me who wanted to watch it ring without picking it up.
