Chapter 44: Unexpected Trespasser

I wasn't sure how much time had passed when we reached the pack house, but Erix shook me awake. I hadn't even realized that I had fallen asleep. I was more tired than I could ever be.

I let out a small moan at my interrupted sleep and felt myself being lifted by a pair of arms. Without thinking, I snuggled into their chest and let the warmth flow. Their arms wrapped around me tighter, making me feel safe and protected.

I felt the bed underneath me dip as I was laid down upon it. My soft pillow and mattress were now the source of my comfort, and Erix was no longer holding me. And his absence made me cold. I shivered, pulled the covers up under my chin, and covered my entire body. Without much effort, I slipped into unconsciousness and left my mind to rest while I slept.

Like the previous night, the dreams came again, making me cry in pain. Only this time, they were a little different. Instead of rejection, I felt Killian marking Isabelle. It felt like a poison slowly working its way
