...Sienna POV..."I think we need to treat both of them as possible candidates. I would like to believe Eli is innocent in all of this. But I can't deny all the signs are pointing towards him. Let us sit and think about how to proceed before we do anything further. We need to make sure no one finds out about this. For all we know, one of them or both of them could be in on this. If either of them finds out before we have a chance to catch them, all of our work will be for nothing. We finally have a lead for the first time in a long time." I suggest making sure no one, including the FBI, attempts to proceed further.I want to look into this more. I want to find out for myself if Eli or Everett are behind this. But in order to do so, I need to keep the FBI far away from this."I understand your cause for concern. But I think it would be safer if we worked together on this." Jace comments. However, little does he realize that I refuse to back down."No, you don't. You wouldn't even sugge
I open my eyes to see a familiar face looking back at me. "Hunter?" I call out, not believing what I'm seeing.Images of the last time we were intimate like this cloud my mind making my heartbeat rush in adrenaline. I turn over to see Hunter's very naked and beautiful form lying unconscious in the bed next to me, his arm pulling me close to him."Hunter?" I call out once more, not believing what I'm seeing. Methodically, my right hand begins to glide upwards, stroking his firm torso as if unable to fully believe that Hunter is here right beside me. I feel the familiar sparks as my skin comes in contact with his. I shift around so I can admire him as he continues to sleep next to me. My hand slowly makes its way higher until I begin to memorize each and every firm curvature of his well-defined body. I don't know if this is real or not, but I don't want this to end. Right here, at this moment, I finally feel free. I've always felt relaxed in Hunter's presence. This is no different. Whi
Over the next week, Asher and I worked tirelessly to form a plan so that we could dig up intel on Eli and Everett. We did as much as we could from overseas, but now it was time to go in person. So far, I managed to deduce that Eli was, in fact, giving intel to Everett, but what we didn't know was whether Eli was aware of this or if Eli was the mastermind behind it all. From the information I found, it would be easy to point fingers at Eli, but part of me still had doubts. I wasn't sure if it was because Eli was close to my family, so I didn't want to think that he could be the one behind all of this. But the more information I found, it was growing increasingly difficult to prove otherwise. I was able to find a deep hack in the FBI system that sent confidential information directly to Everett. The problem though was that we didn't know Eli's involvement in all of this. Was Eli the one who had set up the hack so Everett would get the classified information? Was Eli trying to frame Eve
I waited in the car for over thirty minutes. I needed to ensure that neither Eli nor Everett expected us to be together. If they managed to discover that we came together, we would most definitely be in danger. I looked at the clock to see that Ash and Everett would've been in their meeting for nearly twenty minutes already. My phone hadn't buzzed, indicating that something was wrong, so I tried to take that as a good sign. Perhaps Asher was right, and I was just overthinking. However, as my stomach began to twist once more, I couldn't help but doubt that something was wrong.Seeing that Asher seemed to be fine, it was time for me to carry out the next step in our plan. I had to meet with Eli. I walked out of the car and straight into the building, acting as casually as possible. I walked directly to the front desk, knowing I would have to be buzzed in before going further."Welcome to Stone Johnson. How can I be of assistance today?" The man at the front desk asked."Hi. I'm here to
...Eli POV...Today was turning out to be just any ordinary day. But I couldn't deny the feeling in my chest that something was going to happen. I couldn't put my finger on what, which only made my unease all the more. Perhaps it was Everett's meeting with this new investor? I did a background check on him before allowing Everett to agree to the meeting. Even though the results came up with nothing, I couldn't deny that something seemed off. This new investor's profile seemed clean, too clean even. Anytime we ran into people like that at the FBI, it was only ever because of one thing. It meant the person wasn't who they were claiming to be.I had told Everett of my suspicions. However, he decided to accept the meeting. He felt that if the person weren't who they claimed to be, they would make their reasons known during the meeting. As his head of security, I didn't approve of this way of thinking. But I knew I had no choice but to let it go. Everett was just as strong-willed as his f
...Sienna POV..."I always wanted to go into security. My dad was my hero. When he died, part of me died with him. But I knew that day that I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Your dad became like a second father to me. He was kind and compassionate and helped me with anything I needed. It was because of him that I decided to work for him. He promised to help me get into the FBI if I worked for him. So, of course, I agreed. Who wouldn't? He was offering me my dream while also allowing me to pay it back after everything he had done for me." Eli begins to explain. I can't help but feel a sense of disappointment and annoyance as Eli begins his explanation. I already knew all of that, so why was he telling me what I already knew? Was he trying to stall? I began to wonder but quickly shook my head. There was no reason for him to delay this. So with a calm expression, I allowed him to continue, waiting to see where this was going."When I became your bodyguard, I was both happy and upset.
"I... uh.. have to take this..." I state, choosing to stick with our original plan."Sure." Eli comments, but remains motionless. I step out of his office and quickly search the map to see where Ash is. When I see that he seems to be in Everett's office, which is close by, I decide to go back to see Eli to make up an excuse—claiming that I had to go to the bathroom or something. However, Eli seems to have gone missing when I step into his office. I frown, knowing that he has to be in here. There's only one door into this room, and I was standing directly in front of it."Eli?" I call out, wondering how he could've disappeared so easily.I take a few cautious steps into the office, reaching for the gun I had hidden in the back of my waistband, only to find it's missing. My eyes go wide as my nerves run frantically."Looking for this?" I hear a voice call out behind me. I spin around to see Eli lurking in the shadows, pointing a gun towards me. My gun specifically."Eli?" I call out,
...Asher POV...I didn't want to add to Sienna's nerves by telling her that I also had a bad feeling. I couldn't explain why, only that something seemed off to me. But as I looked at my watch, I realized that I needed to set that all aside. I needed to put my worries aside to focus on the task at hand. Sienna and I had come a long way. In less than a month, we managed to uncover the person that has been behind all of this. I could see why Everett would be behind this. Out of the two of them, he was the only one that had a motive. Scarlett was his sister, and Damian was the one that killed her in the end. Not that anyone blames him, as it was self-defence. But perhaps Everett never saw it that way? Perhaps Everett blamed Damian for everything that happened. It was hard to say, as Everett was one of the few that never seemed to express an opinion on the subject. It was far easier to see Everett as the villain in all of this than it was for Eli. While I never met the man, both Jace and
