Chapter 39

Athena’s POV

I didn't look at him. I didn't say anything to him. I kept my eyes on what was in front of us. I was set on getting to the frozen valley as soon as possible. Only Lucian didn't seem to feel the same sense of urgency as I did.

I didn't have to look at him to tell that he was slowly getting more nervous. His worry was in the air, and I could smell it. I could hear the storm inside of him blowing.

We moved faster today because we had wasted so much time yesterday. We had to get to the place we chose today, or we'd be late, and I didn't like being late. I was sure that in this situation, we couldn't be late.

When the first cold wind came from the direction we were going, it made me feel better. It turned out to be bad for Lucian. The temperature was starting to drop as it got darker. The plateau we had been walking on for a long time was now slowly going up.

It was a sign that we were now on the land mass that joined the eastern valleys and the woods. This didn't make Lucian
