CHAPTER 27.

"Whatever you're thinking about is not healthy for you. Your face is all screwed up."

"You've lost a little weight" He said instead. 

She averted her eyes. "What did you expect? You abandoned me."

Gently, he placed her on the bed and lowered himself to it. "I had to leave, Raine. You know why." He spoke softly. 

She took a shuddering breath, "I never knew... I never knew you had feelings like that for me."

"I know you don't, honey. I'm not blaming you for what is not your fault." 

"But you left all the same. You punished me for it." She persisted. 

He raised his hand to her hair, caught the strands that escaped from their bums and pushed it behind her ear. "My leaving was never to punish you. I had to get my life together and try to move on."
