Several minutes later, they were bathed and in their night wears. There was a sudden tension around Raine. Dane noticed it.
"What's the problem, Sugarplum?" he asked, walking to her.
"I...." She paused. "I've missed you so much, Dane. I want to sleep beside you...but—"
He shook his head cutting her off, "No buts. You can sleep beside me, Raine. I've missed you a lot too and I want to hold you in my arms." he said truthfully.
The smile that spread over Raine's face was radiant. Dane decided that that smile was worth anything. He kissed her forehead. "I love you, Sugarplum." Damn, it really feels nice to say it out loud.
She melted against him. "I love you too." She sighed.
