Lorraine held him and rocked him softly against the sofa, reveling in the slight darkness around them and the same time wondering why he turned to the bottle. Dane rarely turned to the bottle.
"Will you tell me what's wrong, honey?" She asked again, barely registering that she used honorifics with him in her concern.
But, it didn't get past Dane. She'd called him honey. It's been a long time she'd used honorifics on him. That's probably why his mouth loosened....that, and the alcohol, maybe.
"This evening reminded me of something I really want to have but probably can't have." He groaned, snuggling deeper between her breasts. "A child is something every man wants with the woman they love."
