Chapter 11

When Levi saw me, he did not compliment my appearance or even tell me that I had a great appearance. This made me feel a little bit sad. I had no requirement for him to bolster my ego or alleviate any of my insecurities in any way. Because I had dressed up for his benefit, it just would have been lovely if it had happened. But he treated me with the same total lack of concern that he had in the past.

His office was spacious and impressive, and it was located in a large building that also housed a number of smaller offices and conference rooms. WhileLevi, who appeared to be very serious about his work, was seated behind his mahogany desk working on paperwork, the loud ticking of a grandfather clock could be heard in the room.

He gestured for me to sit down on the leather couch on the opposite side of the room and instructed me to do so.
