Chapter Forty-Five (Isla)

“Why does he want me to stay with him, won’t this make things worse with the pack?” I thought.

“Maybe he doesn’t care. He’s a wolf and protective of what is his. He probably has a plan, anyway.” Daciana answered. "Or maybe he will punish us for forfeiting against him." She paused, then in an excited voice added, "I hope he does." then growled.

"The only reason I forfeited was because I didn't want to belittle him in front of the pack. He's the Alpha, and they need to fear and respect him."

"A Beta to the core." She laughed.

“If I stayed with him, it could spell disaster, especially if they can't stop my execution.” I shuddered. "We’d both be killed, and I’d have no way of stopping it."

"We will cross that bridge when we get to it." Daciana retorted in a serious tone.
