Chapter Forty-Seven (Isla)

Alone with my thoughts, I set out to cook dinner, how… domestic. I laughed at myself as I headed into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboards, finding something to cook. I wasn’t much of a cook, so it would have to be easy. Deciding on spaghetti and Meatballs I set about my task.

An hour later, I sat down alone with a plate of overcooked spaghetti and burnt meatballs, looking at my questionable creation.

“You are seriously going to eat that?” Daciana asked, disgusted.

“Yeah, at least it isn’t poisoned.”

“You sure about that? Looks like it could be deadly.” She cackled, which echoed in my head.

Shaking my head at her, I dug in. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad. After eating, I cleaned up and disposed of any evidence of my failure before Anders would see. He might accuse me of poisoning him. I laughed. He eats with the pack anyway and they have better food.

“Hide the evidence we don’t want Anders to know what a terrible cook you are. He’d reject you on the spot.” Daciana joke
