The castle was busy. Omegas prepared food for the feast tonight which would take place after the pack meeting. I put training on hold for the day as everyone prepared doing various duties. Large tables were being set up in the dining hall for the meeting. The dining hall was enormous, with vast windows facing the training grounds. Wolves brought barrels of whiskey up from the cellar. Being immortal, it took a lot of alcohol for wolves to get drunk, our metabolisms burnt it off quickly. Whiskey was the drink of choice for most of the pack. Pack meetings were usually held once a month on the full moon, normally followed by a hunt. This month, however, there would be two, although this one was less formal, more about sharing information, and no hunt was planned afterwards. The pack was abuzz with gossip about my father's death and the capture of Thane and me, as well as Alec's daring rescue. It was impossible to keep any information secret. There was also talk of a prisoner and specul
I walked into the dining hall, where Thane had brought the Elders for our meeting. An elder is a wolf that has reached at least nine hundred years of age. The pack believed, if you could live that long and survive the wars that culled our kind, that they deserved a place in the elder council. The elder council decided on pack laws and made sure the Alpha followed the traditions and pack ways. If they thought an Alpha was corrupt or unwilling to follow tradition, they would overthrow him and his successor would take over, and the predecessor was exiled or, sometimes, executed. Each pack had their own elder council. Our pack had four. Ashina, the only female and the youngest Elder, is around nine hundred years old. Though she only looks twenty-one, she kept her long dark brown hair braided to frame her heart-shaped face. Her piercing green eyes reminded me of Isla. “Why have you summoned us?” Zeeb questioned, with his long black hair falling across his scared face. He had dark, threat
Cutting through my ankle was harder than it had seemed in my head. The sword was not as sharp as I would’ve liked, and each attempt caused me to black out for a few minutes and it wouldn’t let me cut through the bone. I wasn't strong enough; I tried to break it but again was unsuccessful. "Let me do it." Daciana yelled in my head. "Relax your mind and let me take over your body." Nodding, I relaxed, allowing Daciana to take over. My hands started moving on their own as she used her wolf's strength to snap the bone. Pain erupted throughout my leg as she used the sword to finish removing the foot. The chain falling to the ground, freeing me. "There now, let's go." She declared, as she receded back, giving me control of my body. I fought the dots that clouded my vision. I needed to focus. Fighting dizziness, I wrapped the pillowcase around the stump and I hopped up onto my remaining foot, tears streaming down my face from the pain. I was finally free of the chain. Now will our plan w
“Isn't that your prisoner?” Zeeb inquired. As he watched her wolf run from the bushes into the forest. Her purple, white coat shimmering in the sun. “Yes." I cleared my throat. "If you’ll excuse me,” I stated calmly, heading to the door, trying to keep my composure. How is it she is my mate and why was she running from me? “Odd coloring?” Ashina pointed out, “rarely you see a white wolf who changes color in the sun.” Ignoring her, I ran out of the dining hall and headed outside, shifting into my wolf Mind-linking with my brothers and sentinels to alert them. “Right behind you,” Thane and Alec replied in unison as they shifted and headed to the forest as well. I wasn’t far behind her; I raised my snout in the air and sniffed, catching her scent. The smell of Rose's and Lilac.. “Mine!” Vilkas hissed as we turned, running in her direction. “I can’t believe she was so desperate to leave she cut off her own foot.” “Well, yeah, she knows she’ll be executed. She doesn’t feel safe, bec
After resting for a bit, we decided it’d be best to get going before our pursuers found us. Daciana carefully sniffed the air to make sure no one was nearby and, not sensing anyone, jumped head-long into the waterfall, diving into the water below. The water was refreshing, easing the pain in our muscles. Our foot, which had been regenerating while we rested, was feeling better. Not complete yet, but getting there. We walked out of the water shaking the water from my fur, heading in the same direction as before, towards where Daciana said the town was. “How long before we get to the village?” I asked Daciana. “Not sure, just know if we head this way, we will get there eventually.” She paused, “someone’s coming,” turning our head back to where we had come from. A large black wolf with bright red eyes walked into the clearing. “Oh darn, looks like we are going to die again.” She laughed, saying, “That hunk of wolf is MINE.” “Come on, we have to go!” I urged as she fought against me
“Finally, we caught her.” I thought, with her neck between our teeth. “You’re going to kill her.” Vilkas roared. "Let her go.” Not wanting to argue, I pushed his consciousness into the background, taking control of his body again. She was fighting against us, her back foot kicking us in the chest. We bit down harder as blood pooled in our mouth. “Let her go!” Thane yelled in my mind. “You’ll never forgive yourself if you kill your own mate.” I ignored him as he walked into the bushes. I was angry. How could she run from me? I knew she felt the pull, too. “Stop.” Thane told us again. As we saw Thane walk in human form from the trees. He walked up to Isla and looked her in the eyes. “Don’t fight him, or he will kill you. Just come back with us.” She shifted back into human form, her neck still in our teeth. We closed my mouth tighter to hold her human neck. “Never, you’ll just kill me, anyway.” She yelled, shoving her hands in my mouth, trying to pry my jaws off her. “She’s attra
Anders shifted into his human form. Naked, he walked towards me. I lifted my head and growled at him, baring my teeth. “I’m just trying to help. We are going back to the pack house, so unless you can walk yourself, you are going to let me carry you.” Anders spoke to me. “Sexy man, look at the muscle.” Daciana cooed, "I want a piece of that.” “I think not.” I thought back also checking out his body. “Behind that artistry is a jerk.” I surmised. “Maybe it’s a façade. Maybe deep down he’s a teddy bear.” “Yeah, one with teeth who can’t wait to see us dead. I know hatred, and that’s what I see in his eyes.” “It may surprise you at how people can change, and how you can perceive things in a way that was unintended.” I grumbled, “Why am I arguing with you? Your nuts.” “Maybe, but then you are as well because I am a part of you, so there.” She pouted. A tan colored wolf appeared with shorts and a shirt in his mouth. Anders put on the shorts. Causing Dulciana to grunt in disappointmen
Someone was shaking me. Groggily, I opened my eyes, looking up and Anders. "Faolan?" no not Faolan, "Anders?" It took me a minute to remember where I was. "What is it?" I queried as I looked around. “You looked like you weren’t breathing.” He looked confused. "Who is Faolan?" he asked angrily." I shrugged, "don't know." I lied, even though I knew it was him in a previous life. "Your eyes are still violet." He pointed out. I shrugged, “happens sometimes.” I lied again. “Why would you care if I were breathing? If I died, wouldn’t that make things easier for you?” “You have a point. It would make things easier.” He paused, something like regret crossed his face. “We are almost back at the castle. Can you move your legs?” The truth hurts, I guess. Would be nice to have him care, especially since he’s my mate and apparently he is in every life, not just this one. Fate seems to keep throwing us together. Sighing, I tried to move my legs, failed, and shook my head. “Nope, probably won’
