Chapter 45: Fears

It had been quite the day, and we weren’t going to work on my family’s mystery death today. Roman decided it would be good for us to spend some time together and we ended up in one of the living rooms after a small late evening walk together. We had two drinks in front of us, and as soon as I sat down, he pulled me closer, so I had my back to his front. He held me close and began stroking my scarred arm with his fingers. I still grew nervous when he focused on that, but what he had done today, kissing the scars like he adored them, had made me a little less self-conscious about it. I was never self-conscious about it when it came to other people. They could talk and whisper about it, but with Roman, it felt different. I… cared what he thought.
