Unexpected turn of events

As the days continued to pass, Lucas continued to bring food for Sera, but he didn't try to get close to her.

Instead, he would just leave the food at a distance, respecting the space she needed. But every now and then, he would glance in her direction and his blue eyes would fill up with a mix of hope that she would soon dash with her silence.

One evening, as the sun began to set, Lucas approached the cave once again, carrying a basket of fruits and vegetables. He set it down and took a step back, watching her from a distance.... Like she was a vulnerable animal he didn't want to spook off.

"I hope you're doing well, Sera," he called out softly. "I'll be here whenever you're ready to talk or if you need anything."

Sera felt her heart soften at his words, and she observed that despite how cold she had been to him lately, he was still here, patiently waiting for her. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for them to find ther way back to each other.
