CHAPTER-2: THE SINFIELD

“Baby, I promise I will always cherish you and will never let you down. I love you so much. You are an angel who came into my life and I intend to keep you forever.” I smiled and blushed at his promising words and caressed the rose he gave me on this valentine's day. Holding my hand, he kissed it and hugged me to his chest.

“Jordan, you have to meet my parents to get permission to court me officially. They are very protective of me. I can't keep secrets from them anymore. I know they will like you.” I said cheerfully but his face contorted into something unpredictable. He seemed reluctant. Like the idea of meeting them would kill him.

“I.. Pearl I can't….”

“Miss, Miss wake up. We have reached.” I snapped out of my dream when something more like someone hit my arm a little harshly. I sat straight from my slouching form and turned to see the middle aged man who was arranged to sit on my left in the plane.

He glared at me before grabbing his hand luggage from the store compartment. I looked around as people were rushing out of the plane and looking out of the window only then I realised we had landed already on the ground at New York airport.

“You slept like a dead body!” the man grumbled and walked away.

Oh yeah! And that's why you couldn't wake me up politely, Oldie.

I snorted. Rubbing the left-out sleep out of my eyes, and wiping out my drool, I reached for my handbag and followed him out of the plane.

After going through immigration and all formalities, I walked to the sitting area in the airport to wait for my cousin.

I messaged her to whom my father arranged to pick me up. I was going to stay with her in this city and I was grateful for it because I know no one here except her. She joined a famous Restaurant as an assistant manager a few months ago. She is one year younger than me. On the other hand, I completed my study at the age of 22 and was ready to plan my future with Jordan.

Jordan!

I sighed tiredly. His name made me realise what condition I was in. All for him!

‘Pearl, Iam coming in an hour. This haughty boss of mine didn't let me take half day due to heavy work. Wait for me, Babe.’

Annie, my cousin messaged me back with some angry emojis which were directed to her arrogant boss. As long as I remember, the owner was going to visit their Restaurant soon for a check up so her general manager who was her boss must be hot on her tail to demand perfection.

It sighed again before letting out a long yawn. I needed strong coffee. I looked around for a coffee shop and soon I found one. I walked there with my suitcase and requested one big coffee from the lady on the counter.

Suddenly I heard a noisy commotion around me and I looked back to see people gathering at one place like a beeline, girls squealed and photographers jumping around like some legendary celebrity was going to walk down the red carpet.

“What's that for?” I asked the lady, in confusion and annoyance. Why are they screaming like God is descending himself on the earth?

The lady gasped with shock and spared me an alien look.

“Are you for real? Don't you know who is coming?” she almost screeched.

Alright! This woman is exaggerating her reaction.

“And who is coming?” I asked, rolling my eyes but inside I was intrigued by their reactions. Almost everyone was seeing that way where a bunch of people were jumping around, murmuring and cheering.

The woman genuinely gave me a long blank stare before grabbing my coffee and passed it to me.

“The Sinfield. The lethal Senator!”

I heard a sharp cheerful scream from behind me and the lady beside me literally shrieked and steered that way to join the group. My jaws dropped to the floor seeing her behaving like a mad woman.

I blinked my eyes and sipped my coffee, keeping my gaze that way. I almost spit out tasting it. Stupid woman made it extra bitter. I ordered another one from the male servant.

Grabbing my new one, I walked to the other side while putting on my airpods and called my parents to inform them of my arrival.

“Yes Dad, Annie is coming to pick me up. Don't worry, I will keep updating you guys…” I was talking to my father when someone shrieked.

“He is Here! OMG!”

I turned back to look at the crowd swelled in a few seconds, girls gushing over some group of men who were stepping ahead gracefully in their tuxedos, surrounded by many men in black. By the distant gaze I could see three men in front with the one who was the tallest among them was in the lead in the middle but I couldn't see any of their faces as they got circled by the crowd immediately.

“What is this commotion around, Pearl?” Dad asked me. I sighed in annoyance.

“Nothing Dad. Some stupid fangirls are screaming around. I will call you later.”

I cut the call and called Annie to ask if she had departed yet or not. I was sipping my coffee, walking lazily while grabbing my suitcase to the waiting hall. The ringtone was ringing on the other end when some girls knocked into me, running past me excitedly. I scowled at their fleeing figures.

What the hell!

I almost lost my precious coffee. Stupid women!

I was overly frustrated with everyone around the place and Annie was not picking up my call. I thought about leaving an audio message for her when she finally picked up my call.

“‘Annie, where the hell are you, girl?” I groaned.

“Sorry sorry pearl, Iam jogging to the parking lot. I just got free!” She was huffing which implied that she was running all the way to get to her car to come here.

I squeezed my eyes out thinkingI have to wait more. The people here were pissing me off already. I turned around aiming to sit in the waiting area.

“You better come fast before I lose my mind here. Some fools are…”

“Hey girl, move away!” I heard someone shouting and I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time. People are just crazy here!

“.... Driving me crazy here and…” Suddenly my voice muffled when I knocked into something hard and stiff.

Oomph!

The coffee mug slipped from my hand with me on the floor on my butts. My phone already fell on the hard ground with the strong impact and few men around me gathered.

What the hell just happened?

“Pull this trash out of the way!” someone snapped and I looked around bemused, realising that they were pointing at me, looking at me with disdain. Only then I glanced up to see the crowd was cornered and narrowed behind by some guards, to restrain them from nearing those three men who were standing straight in front of my falling form.

I was shocked, tense and confused at what just happened. Why didn't I see them coming my way or did I just turn blind not to see their broad and muscular figures in front of me.

I forgot about the people singing their insults at me and looked at the men blankly.

“She seemed dumb and deaf!” the first man commented with a smirk on his handsome face. The mischievous glint in his brown eyes didn't go unnoticed by me. He was wearing a black tuxedo with his blond hair perfectly swiped on the side.

My eyes followed the sight of another man on my right who was staring down at me indifferently with his pale green eyes and sharp and stiff face. He was also wearing the same colour tuxedo. They were utterly gorgeous and emitted rich vibes.

I couldn't see the face of The middle one because He was wearing a black hat with the same dress code but the long black trench coat was moulded into his broad, muscular and tallest form perfectly with the high black boots giving him intimidating and regal vibes.

I sensed He was examining his sleeve which was damp and my eyes broadened. I realised what had happened. The coffee spilled on his thick expensive material on sleeve following his hand and wristwatch.

I abruptly stood up on my numb legs ignoring my stuff on the floor. This man must be super wealthy and famous which I reckoned from the reaction of people there so I hurriedly approached him to apologise when those men who seemed like their bodyguards stepped to my side but the man in the middle raised his big calloused hand in a gesture stopping them.

“I..I am extremely sorry, Sir. I didn't see you coming in my direction. I apologise for my mistake….”

I bit my lips and looked down at his expensive trench coat which was also drenched on the side. Oh no!

“Ah! So Dearie can talk!” The first man who seemed to be in his early twenties chuckled while commenting again, pocketing his hands.

“I.. Let me help you please…” I was being hyper of crashing into some Rich nobleman and creating nuisance.

All the liquid absorbed into his luxurious Branded coat. Instinctively, I pulled a hanky from my jacket pocket and stepped close to clean his ruined fingers which couldn't be saved from my sweet milk coffee also.

But before I could even step into his personal space let alone wipe his hand, He clasped my wrist in his firm hold stopping me. I froze with the foreign tingling sensation gripping my skin. I felt captivated and grounded by that sudden touch. I frowned and something tugged my heart.
