Mia’s pov

I stared at him in disbelief while panting hard. The shock and fear at the thought of him killing my mother along with my father coursed through me even as his response was still reechoing in my head and my mind.

Somehow, I couldn’t bring myself to believe his response.

“You’re lying.” I whispered as I slowly sant against the wall behind my back. Tears were brimming my eyes and as I stared at Lorenzo through my blurry eyes, it began to dawn on me that he was indeed an heartless monster.

Lorenzo remained silent after a few minutes and slowly, the tears fell out of my eyes, rolling down my cheeks.

“Please don’t kill her.” I whispered through the sob bubbling in my throat. My entire body felt like it was engulfed in iced water and the thought of my mother winding up dead because of something she isn’t aware of kept making me feel like I wanted to puke.
