Mia’s pov

“You… you didn’t mean all of that back there, did you?” I found myself asking before Lorenzo could even start the car. The question had been eating at my insides since the moment they left his mouth and that why I hadn’t been able to control myself to wait before asking said question.

Lorenzo didn’t respond and instead motioned for me to do my seatbelt and in no time, he was driving out of the neighborhood, right into the busy road.

The car ride was silent and it made me have the time to lose myself into my thoughts. I was still yet to recover from the fact that woman had tried to hurt Maeve and I just because of our father. It was clear that people in the mafia world don’t usually care that a child doesn’t have anything to do with said situation, all those kinds of people care about is getting their revenge, dosent matter if an innocent child would be the one to pay for it.

That took me back to the point where Lorenzo’s aunt had called me a monster for defending a monster.
