Damian’s POV

“What’s wrong with her? Is she okay?” Hazel asked as she set Asher down on the couch and clutching my phone tightly, I shook my head.

I’d just gotten a call that my mother had already gotten another episode of her heart failure and it was severe this time.

I’d thought the surgery she had the last time already lessened the chance of something like this happening but I was wrong. I explained to Hazel in a way I could and I could see the worry on her face grow.

“I’ll go with you.” she let out as she also picked up her coat and wanted to follow me but I stopped her. I couldn’t let her come with me especially after knowing that my father might be there.

“No, don't.” I refused as I explained to her that someone needed to take care of Asher and I wouldn’t want him to wake up to see both of his parents gone.

“I really need to go alone.” I finished and after much persuasion, she finally agreed to stay back in the house.
