The sound of his voice caused me to shivers all over and the sound of my name from his mouth gave me goosebumps, in a disgusting manner.
I turned my head down the room and realized it just wasn't an ordinary office but an underground cafe, probably where he has been hacking us from.
I felt my blood boil knowing I that was in the same room as the man who ruined my entire life. If I hadn't gone to him that night, my family would probably be alive.
"Hello Hugo, it sure has." I said though gritted teeth.
"Really, you don't seem pleased at all. It almost sounds like you want to kill me." He said leaning forward on the table in front of him.
"It's seems spending time apart made you understand me better." I said slowly making my way towards him but he smirked.
"So what brings you here after all this time? Or did yo
Sorry for the short chapter, I promise I'll be longer tomorrow. Enjoy.
* I slammed the now busted up bat in the face of the last guy standing between me and Hugo. "Wow, worked up quite the work out here. So... You were saying?" I looked back at Hugo It was obvious that he was shaken but I believe he didn't want me to see his weak side. "S-so you really are that Adira." Hugo started. "Look, I'll tell you the truth. It's all my Dad's doing, when he found out we were together he was furious and I had to break up with you, it was so hard on me then, he said you weren't strong enough to handle his empire..." He started rambling. "And and... When he heard that Wong Shin adopted you as his daughter he snapped, he already had an old grudge against the old man and set up an assassination team to wipe you all out..." Memories of the fire flooded my mind and my blood began to boil afresh.
* I had to stay in bed for a few day since the shock affected my nerves. I remember getting an earful from Tin about going out on my own into dangerous waters (air quotes.). She said that my anger was never going to get me anywhere and against Hugo, he was definitely going to use it against me. After that she put me off work and made sure that I was resting at all times. It's been 3 days since my encounter with Hugo and I was dying to talk to someone about it. I picked up my phone and called both Susan and Stephanie to come over, that is without Tina finding out. A few hours later I heard a knock on my door, I took my cane and walked over to open the door and there they were. "I came here as fast as I could, what do you need." Stephanie said chocking me in a hug. "You sent for me sensie." Susan said standing b
*(Fast-forward to a month later)It's been a month of rigorous planing and thankfully Tina hasn't gotten wind of what we've been up to.I was able to resume work after a week of house arrest and during that time I was able to achieve a lot thanks to Francesca. She helped narrow down places that Hugo visited and was usually seen, making it easier for our sting operation. Since I couldn't go out for obvious reasons I sent Stephanie to stalk him for a while. As risky as it was for both parties, Susan was able to control herself and hold back on breaking a few of Hugo's bones.Since if we were going to attack, we were doing to attack where it hurts the most, in other words where the sun don't shine. This would be my best revenge yet.I parked my car in front of the manor as usual, everything was going according to plan an
*I drove through an area that Stephanie said was sure most paparazzi staked at and made sure to buy something.I was really far driving from Area Z to Area C, so I'm glad I get to stop and eat. I pulled up to a drive in but then decided to go in for maximum effect.According to Steph, Headlines: Multimillionaire eating at a cheap restaurant. She said it was going to blow like fire.Susan would take care of Tina and fill us in on important info on her whereabouts and what she was doing at every moment.Stephanie was looking for something light she could leak to the police that was serious but would get me off with a warning at most. After I ordered, I took a seat down in a booth and went through my phone, I was bored so I opened an app that one of the kids installed on my phone, they called it TikTok.I just thought it was j
* I nodded and looked at Stephanie, she stood up and I followed at the back. We got out and met the police, Bethany who was now the chief of police looked at me seriously. Before I knew what was happening, Bethany screamed and tackled me into a bear hug. I almost forgot how hyperactive she was, she might be a police officer now but she would always be the super active little sister I never had. "You never call me and when you do it's a favour to arrest you. Are you crazy!?" Bethany screamed. I laughed at how cute she was, her deputy beside her facepalming his self as he lived the drama in front him. "It's nice to see you too Bethany. How are you?" I asked her with a smile. "Great, I've been recommended by the force to work with the Interpol. I'm going to be chasing foreign and dangerous criminals." She said excitedly.
*Knock! Knock!!Shit... I was so tired, I don't have the energy to face back up. The knock became more persistent, I jogged to the living room calming my breath in case I needed to fight again.I tapped my wristband to try and get backup but I noticed that the knocking stoped for a few seconds then. Boom! The door bursted open, I shielded my eyes from foreign objects getting into them. Hearing footsteps I moved back as I was at a disadvantage, I ran towards the kitchen sink to rinse out my face but the person was already coming closer.Thankfully the knife case was near and so with every step I anticipated my every move, when the person got close enough I quickly grabbed the knife and swung it across but it was stopped like it was nothing. There were only two people who could stop a blade in that I held, Master and..... Tina!
*We immediately rushed Tina to the hospital and found out that she wasn't actually shot but she fell into some glass near by.I couldn't help but think that most of what happened was my fault. I'd I had involved Tina from the beginning she would have had a different approach and a higher success rate.I waited outside the operation room for hours, Susan and Stephanie too, since they both felt responsible as well. After a while the operation room light went off and the doctor came out, I rushed toward him in anticipation."There's nothing to be worried about, the glass pierced an old wound, that's all. We took out the glass and restitched the wound, she should wake up in a few hours." The doctor explained.I felt so relieved that I lost a grip on my legs as I collapsed on the ground, Susan and Stephanie both came by my side and picked me up.
*"Stephanie spoke to me earlier and we've decided... You need to take a break."I looked at Tina confused, what does my trauma have to do with a break? If anything I should just bury myself in so much work and training that I forget whatever just happened earlier."I understand that you're confused but I know you and Stephanie knows you too," She started."You'll eventually lock yourself up and bury yourself in so much work and tedious training which of isn't good for you, at all." I looked away from her staring at the ceiling. She wasn't wrong."Look, I see you as a daughter, Stephanie sees you as a sister and everyone here sees you as the pillar that holds this family together. If you should break down it won't be looking good for any of us." Tina tried to convince me."Just a few weeks or maybe a month. You c
