Chapter 6

Did I hear that right? They might have killed Liam's parents? How is that possible! They're boring old people who have no life! All they do is work. This is all just an intense dream of some sorts. This isn't real, I can't be the daughter of the two of the most powerful people that own a mafia in freaking New York City!

"Get her something to eat and drink, and clean up her wounds. They look gross." Liam said, nodding towards my arms and legs.

Charlie quickly ripped the duct tape off and without even thinking I said, "You guys owe me a phone."

Charlie chuckled, "Yeah that's not gonna happen."

We sat in silence while Charlie went and grabbed bandages, alcohol, you name what doctors use he grabbed it. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Like trained to do.

"You used to be a doctor."

"I was."

"Let me guess you decided to join the mafia." I sarcastically said.

"I did." Charlie responded ignoring my sarcasm.

"You should stop with the sass, it's gonna get you into a lot more pain." Charlie suggested.

"Trust me the knife and punching wasn't new." I mumbled. Once those left my mouth I instantly regretted it. I hope he hadn't heard what I said. The past needs to stay in the past, plus I don't want to talk about it and the things that happened to me...not again. Once was enough.

Charlie looked up at me and before he could ask anything else Liam walked in with a tray of food and water. He cut one of the zip ties off and placed the tray in front of me.

"Thanks." I said, giving him a weak smile. The smile is genuine. Well kinda. I still don't trust him. Even though he seems like a trustworthy guy, I don't trust him. He not anyone else will get through my walls. Never trust anyone. I learned that lesson a long time ago. Letting people in only brings heartache. I never want that again.

"Whatever."

"Liam, can we talk for a moment?" Charlie asked.

Me and Liam looked at Charlie weirdly. Both him and Charlie walked out and Charlie gave me a sympathetic smile. He was gonna tell Liam what I had said.

"Please don't." I pleaded. He looked away for a second but his gaze returned towards me.

Liam started shouting for Charlie to get upstairs. And he walked out and left me alone...alone with knives and one hand of my untied.

Idiots.

-----

Charlie was taking way too long to come talk to me. He had a look in his eyes that said it was urgent.

He came upstairs and seemed upset and a tad bit angry.

"What is it Charlie?" I asked.

"You may not care for her but, please listen to me for one moment. And for this one moment don't be in charge of a mafia or a pain in the ass." Charlie pleaded.

I rolled my eyes at him, "What is it?"

"It's something Melody said, she said it wasn't the first time that the knife and punching wasn't new to her." Charlie seemed hurt by this somehow, "You saw how she didn't even cry and yell out in pain?"

It was quite odd that she didn't know anything about her parents mafia and while getting tortured she only made very few noises.

"Find out about it. I won't help you with researching her past. I got some of my own stuff I need to do. You can dig into her past by yourself."

Charlie nodded and went towards the tech room where Wilson would most likely be at.

He is our best tech guy after all. He basically lives in our tech room.

------

I knew Charlie was gonna tell Liam the comment I made. How could I be so stupid! I swore to myself that what happened to me would stay in the past. And that I would never cry and only tell people I truly trusted with what happened. Which isn't anyone but Thea. And that comment was going to open a lot of doors and lots of questions.

I can't think of that right now. I put those thoughts back where they belonged and quickly ate the food I was given. It was actually really good. It was a small dish of mashed potatoes with chicken on the side. Once I finished I glanced around figuring out what to do. My eyes landed on the table with the fabric that had all the knives in it. I put the plate on the ground to my right and used the little strength I had to walk over to the table with the knives on it. It's probably not the smartest thing I've done. Especially with how weak I am and the bruises I have all over my body. But I can't stay here much longer. Once I got over there I picked the one that looked like it was the sharpest and cut the zip ties and walked over towards the door.

I decided early that I'd wait for when someone gets in and I can sneak past them and book it towards the door. Again probably not the smartest thing I've done but, it's what a lot of people do when they get taken. They try to do whatever is necessary to get free.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. It's a fifty-fifty chance of if I get away or not. Hopefully it's the option of me getting away. I prefer that than staying here.

I saw the door unlock and Charlie walked in, he saw that I wasn't in the chair and quickly got out his phone. Before he could hit the call button me being me I hit him with the bud of the knife that I'm taking with me. I grabbed the duct tape and tied his hands and feet and duct taped his mouth like he had done to me. I quickly hid the knives so Liam and his mafia can't find them. And that once Charlie woke up he wouldn't be able to cut himself free. I grabbed the gun he had and his three knives and an extra gun he had hidden in the inside of his jacket.

I booked it out the door and locked him inside and ran away from the basement and slowly walked to the top of the stairs. I saw that Liams men were changing positions and once the area was clear I left and I quickly booked it out the door and maybe stole one of their cars that was on the side of their house.
