Chapter Forty-Three

I stand in the cavernous room, looking around in awe and a small part of me feels like I’m intruding on someone else’s home. While I have this overwhelming sense that I’m where I’m supposed to be, there’s a small nagging that’s telling me to leave. Like there’s a sense of magic pressing on me and trying to wrestle its way into the decision making part of my brain. My dragon wants to leave while the wolf part of me wants to tip her head back and howl out her elation.

I move towards the front of the space, where the chair is sitting on top of the platform, tracing the worn wood with my fingers, a shiver skating down my spine and goosebumps erupting on my skin. The chair holds weight in the way old important items often do. Decisions were made in this chair for the betterment of the pack, and I had this compulsion to sit in it. A compulsion that would not be ignored.
