Chapter Thirty - Three

Memories:

Patrick watched the door shut and her fiery red hair disappear. He quickly found his shirt and pulled it over his head. He gritted his jaw thinking of his father. He said too much he shouldn't have told her. He stared down at the wooden floor. An image flashed in front of his eyes. Loud noises of yelling and dishes breaking. He could still feel the stairs creaking between his feet as if he was walking down the stairs in his old home. The yelling stopped as he reached the kitchen. He was scared, he didn't know why at the time but he felt like something bad was in the kitchen. Like there was a monster waiting for him. He was twelve and didn't believe in monsters anymore. He took a deep breath and walked into the kitchen. Porcelain dishes were shattered about the floor, his mother on the floor leaning against the kitchen cabinet. Tears stained her very red face.

“Mother?” Patrick whispered.

Her eyes grew wide as she shook her head at him and told him to go with
