Chapter 3 I've got some news!

They stood embraced for minutes, just looking in each other's eyes, without being able to utter a single word. It was like time stopped for them.

And right then the door opened making them startle and both of them made a step back.

“What’s going on here?” Mark Thompson, Sarah's brother asked looking at their troubled looks, but he turns his gaze from them and signals to a doctor to come into Sarah's room.

“Is she disturbing you?” Mark asked Patrick, throwing an ugly look to Sarah.

“No, we were just talking and I saw her sad. That's all, she didn’t do anything inappropriate.” and he looks at Sarah and gives her a soft and polite smile, totally different from that he gave her when they were alone.

“I talked with my father” Mark said “ And he agreed to..” but hearing him Patrick stops him without a second thought and just signals him to keep his mouth closed.

“You will tell me about this when we will be in the conference room with the other, now is not the place and the time to talk about it” and Mark just looks at him not knowing what to say.

“Now she is about your sister. She is not feeling well, I don’t want to hold her off with things that we can discuss another time.” Patrick continues trying to make Mark understand not to insist on the subject.

Just before he came to see Sarah, he asked Mark to go and talk with his father about an alliance marriage between him and Sarah’s older sister, but hearing Mark now, he stopped him without hesitation.

“What are you doing?” Bart asked him, because as a wolf what Patrick does confused him.

“I don’t know. It's simply the wrong moment to talk about” he tells Bart and puts him back in his mind.

Patrick looked at Mark and at the doctor who came with and this time is Sarah's time to panic.

Mark rarely comes into her room and when he does it he is not even looking at her. Every time he comes to tell her that is the time to donate blood, or that she is asked to do something. He is like a guardian for her, always giving her only glances, never a full look.s

The poor girl is convinced that he hates her because he is acting completely impersonal every time she is around.

“I needed to speak with her,” Mark said, stealing a glance and watching her with the corners of his eye.

His mind is tormented every time she is around and he knows that this is not good at all. She is his sister. This is a taboo subject, and his father will break his neck if he finds out what was going on in his mind.

So all he does is to glance at her when nobody is around, because the truth is that he likes to have Sarah in the setting.

“Then speak!” Patrick said signaling him to start but right then Sarah stopped him.

“Why don’t you go to the conference room?” she asks Patrick.

“The doctor will give me a physical examination, “ she said, blushing a little.

Every time time Mark comes with the doctor is to inform her that it is time for another blood donation. So as long as he came here with the doctor he did it for that reason and she is completely panicked.

She hid all this blood exchange from everyone and she just lost her mother after she found out about it, so she wants to keep it secret.

“Than I will let you have this physical examination” Patrick asked and looking at Mark and the doctor he just nodded.

“They came daily to verify if I am feeling well” Sarah lied. “After I would like to rest a little, I am more and more tired” she whispered. “Can you please , leave alone with the doctor?”

“Of course, princess,” Patrick said, smiling again at her. “Take care of you!” and he just left her with the doctor , while he signaled Mark to follow him.

“So ? Are you ready?” The doctor asked her as soon as they were left alone.

“Can I ever be ready for this?” Sarah said looking at his hands that are placing a garrote around her arm.

“This is going to hurt a little” the doctor said as he inserted the syringe needle in her vein and started to take her blood but Sarah found his comment hilarious. She is doing this for months , she already knows that hurts. What’s the purpose of his tactful act?

“I’ve got some news” the doctor said while he was watching over the transfusion. “And are some good news”

“What could be good, doctor?” Sarah said, closing her eyes, while Gal, her wolf, feels more and more weak and sighs in her mind.

“In two days all of this will end, Sarah, '' the doctor suddenly said without looking at her.

“You won’t need my blood anymore?” she asks, looking at him and for the first time feeling that she really received good news.

“Yes, just as I told you. In two days all of this will end for good.” And this time the doctor looked at her smiling deviously, took the bag with blood and put a patch on her arm to stop the bleeding.

“But there will be different, what we will do this time.” and he turned his back to her and continued.

“We will take the blood like usual, a little bit more than usual more precisely, but before doing this you will take some medicine.”

“I didn’t take medicine until now?” Sarah said, looking at him. “Why is it suddenly needed now?”

“It’s something new, Sarah. We’ve been working on this for a long time trying to find a way to stop those blood donations and we finally found this medicine, so you need to take it” the doctor said and he turned his face to her.

“Do it and that will be your last blood donation.”

“And is safe?” Sarah asked, feeling a little bit uneasy by this sudden change of plan.

“Is completely safe!” the doctor said and smiled at her. “Trust me!” he said but he laugh inside his mind saying it and he helped her sit in her bed because she is really weak after giving her blood again.

“Did you hear him, Gal?’ she asked her wolf closing her eyes. “We will be relieved soon. All this will end!”

“I can’t wait for it!” Gal said with a very weak voice, but just the thought of all of this ending made her feel better.
