I did not look up from my desk, until after Conan had left. A sniffle had escaped me before he left and I had held my breath, hoping he would not use that as an excuse to stay or try to comfort me.

I hurriedly wiped off the single tear that had escaped as I heard the dark murmur of his voice, still outside my office. I briefly answered who he was talking to and chastened myself for being curious and for being hurt when he was not able to answer my question about our relationship.

I gave a derisive snort.

I began to wonder again why Conan was helping me with my revenge. He claimed it was for me to get my closure and he wanted to help me, but after seeing the strange dynamic that existed between him and Brad, I was beginning to think he had another reason, one that could be much more worse than I thought.

My mind went back to the formal dinner party that Luna Trina had thrown. Conan had burst into the restroom, catching Brad as he had pinned me against my will against the wall. H
