“Did you sleep okay last night?” Serena’s mother asked in a soft voice."Yes, I did, actually, Thanks for asking.” Serena nodded, she said softly. Her mother looked slightly surprised at her daughter’s reply and smiled even wider. “Of course, sweetie,” she responded, flashing her daughter a quick glance. “Just make sure that it’s nothing serious, alright?”Serena smiled again. “Will do, mom.”A comfortable silence fell upon the two sisters as they drove in complete silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Serena had been in love with Julian for years, ever since the day she laid eyes on him. Even though she loved her brother dearly, she also loved Julian even more. And she was sure that her love was mutual considering how often he called her to check up on her or send letter to her. The fact that Julian had always been by her side was also something that she was grateful for he was her best friend. He understood her better than anyone else, and although he may have been a little
His mother nodded slightly. “Well, that’s fine. How about we go up there and go to bed? We can get some rest before we leave tomorrow morning. Do you think you can handle sleeping tonight? I know that it’s been awhile since you slept properly, and I thought it might be a good idea for you to sleep in today so that you could relax and recover,” she suggested, hoping that Julian would agree.Julian shook his head immediately. “No, mom, I’ll stay up all night,” he insisted. “Don’t worry about it; I’ll sleep tonight.”Catherine paused for a second, unsure of whether or not she should accept his offer. In the end, she decided that this was probably something that would be best for Julian to be able to sleep a little longer than usual, anyway.“Alright,” she said. “We can try and make plans for tomorrow.”He nodded in response. “It’s a deal,” he said.“Then let’s go upstairs.”The two siblings ascended the stairs slowly, not saying a single word until they reached the bedroom. Once they w
After a few minutes, she turned and walked back over towards the hall, but then stopped again, remembering what had happened before she walked into the kitchen. She turned back to the bedroom and carefully moved the curtains back to the right position, taking care not to make too much noise. Then she slipped quietly back out into the living room and started pacing back and forth anxiously, thinking about what to do next. After a few moments, she stopped pacing and went to sit down in the chair next to the beautiful garden scenery. She tried her best to focus on the view before her, but she kept noticing little details that she had previously failed to notice during the previous days. It had been a whole two months since Sergio had first moved in and had already made quite an impact on her life and the lives of her children. Even though she knew that she and her husband weren't really in love anymore and that he was far happier now without her, she still couldn't help but feel sad
"So," she said quietly, "do you remember the conversation that we had earlier? About Julian and his family?""Yes," he responded, turning his head to look at her as he spoke. "Is there something wrong?"Catherine shook her head. "No, nothing like that," she replied, shaking her head. "In fact, it sounds like everything's going to be fine for the most part. He'll probably need a bit of time to adjust to all this, but after everything has settled down, everything seems to be going to plan. Well, almost everything anyway," she added. He gave her a questioning look, unsure of how to respond to that. Eventually, he decided to ask her anyways, deciding to try and piece things together. "Are you concerned about him?" he inquired."Of course I am," Catherine replied quickly, rolling her eyes slightly. "He hasn't spoken to us much ever since he came here. He doesn't even talk to his mother much, so why don't you worry a little less and just go enjoy yourself? You're obviously bored out of y
Julian was still standing awkwardly by the front door after Catherine left. His body swayed slightly to one side, feeling as though he was having trouble staying upright due to the effects of the heavy drinks coursing through his system, yet he refused to give in to his dizziness. He could feel his eyelids begin to droop and his eyes started to flutter shut involuntarily. Just as he felt himself falling backwards, he felt someone's hands grabbing his arms and holding him steady. He forced his eyes to open again, not wanting to fall asleep on the doorstep in his condition. He raised his head and looked up and saw that he was now facing the owner of the voice which had caught him."Hello Julian." he heard someone say. When he looked up, he could see that the voice belonged to none other than him."You should come inside. You are freezing," He exclaimed."Yeah," Julian agreed tiredly, stumbling slightly forwards when Thomas released his grip on his arms. "I've been drinking too much."
"What's wrong?" she inquired, causing him to look up sharply. He blinked at her in surprise before letting out a quiet sigh. "Nothing," he replied shortly. He looked down at the plate of food once again and finished off the last of his glass of juice."Then why are you looking so sickly? Are you ill?" Catherine questioned. "If you are, you should go home and rest," she added, trying to sound calm. "You look terrible.""No, nothing's wrong. I'm fine," he insisted."You're not fine. Something has obviously upset you," Catherine stated, crossing her arms across her chest. "Tell me, what happened last night?""Nothing happened," he insisted. "It's just that I have a lot on my plate right now...things have been difficult lately, that's all."Catherine tilted her head curiously. "Difficult how?" she asked."Things are complicated between me and Finn. Well...they might seem complicated because of everything that happened with Serena, It's just…I really care about him," he confessed, drop
"Well, you still had plenty of those drinks in your system at the time. It would have been unfortunate for you if you'd spilled your entire liquor supply onto yourself," she said teasingly, nudging him slightly in order to cause him to laugh again."I suppose," Julian agreed. "Though I have to admit that I am thankful that you stopped me from getting myself drunk."Catherine nodded. "Yes, you would have definitely done something foolish, like throw yourself into the street or onto the sidewalk," she commented. "It would have been far less painful if you'd merely jumped off the roof of the building.""So that's what happened to my face?"Catherine immediately regretted telling him that. It had slipped out before she could stop it, and she hadn' t intended for him to find out like that. She swallowed loudly, trying her best to hide the sudden fluster that rose to her cheeks as she glanced downwards."You're lucky you weren't injured. Otherwise, I probably would've killed you," she mut
A soft knocking on the bedroom door interrupted her thoughts, causing Catherine to jump slightly as she quickly sat up straight. It wasn't long before she heard the sound of footsteps approaching, accompanied by a soft sigh. Without turning around, she waited patiently for the owner of the footsteps to approach her bed before she spoke."Come in," she called. The door slowly opened a few seconds later, revealing Julian standing silently in the doorway. When he saw Catherine sitting upright, he walked over towards the bed, stopping beside it before speaking in a quiet tone."Curtis woke up earlier. He asked me to inform you that he needs to speak with you for a moment," Julian told her quietly.Without waiting for her reply, Julian turned on his heel and exited the room without another word. Once the door closed behind him, Catherine turned her attention back to him, noticing that he had stirred awake and was staring blankly into space. She placed her hand gently upon his shoulder, g
