Marie found out that there were other four Filipinos who were accepted for the Fullbright scholarship. However, these four had their different specialized subjects majors different from her. While she enrolled at the State University of New York with a Master of Education major in English Language, the four were placed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Middlebury College specializing in Science, Math, and Research.
